While I have you, am I correct in understanding that to tighten the belt I just need to move the wheel back by slackening the “axle” bolt (going through the rear wheel) and then the smaller 2 tensioning bolts on either side? With regards to the former I read somewhere that you needed a 24 and 36mm wrench?

Thanks 🙏🏻

I just use a 36mm spanner on the right hand side nut. Get a long spanner (eg 450mm) as it needs to be done up tight! .

It's worth replacing the split pin with a 3mm x 72mm R clip - easier to get out next time smile

Loosen the axle nut and the right hand adjuster. Tighten the left hand adjuster to get the required belt tension then tighten the right hand adjuster to take up any slack.

Check the front edge of the tyre clears the drive belt, if not loosen the left and tighten the right adjusters until you have a couple of mm clearance.

Finally tighten the axle nut as tight as you can then a bit more to get the R clip / split pin in.

+1 , and once the belt is in the correct tracking position ( learned by drive testing) then put a wee dimple on the exposed flat of the adjusting nut so you have a reference point.

Belt tension sounds insufficient leading to that level of noise - We’ve seen this before on our trips - the tensioners can bend too so make sure they’re serviceable. Follow Chris99 advice just ensure the rear wheel is straight and true once tensioned.

Good luck

You ought to talk with Phil Bleazey. E-mail him. He is a great, patient, extremely knowledgeable guy. Not knowing the model of your car and mileage on it, it is difficult to say exactly what is going on. I put the bevel box mounting kit in my 2018 after I reached 300 miles on the odometer. My car was not making any noise but after the install, the car performed better at starting off and it lowered the noise in the bevel box. The extreme tension that people are putting on these belts is scary. I have ridden belt driven bikes for 20 years and I have never tightened the belt as tight as they are saying to tighten it. My next fall project is the Centa drive unit that Phil has designed. The way you can see if the NVH kit is causing the noise is to remove the seats and inboard metal sheets and pry on the bottom of the NVH kit on the bevel box end. There is a video somewhere on this sight that has a guy showing the movement. If your car is brand new there may be other issues.
