Yes the Gems system may be the difference. It didn’t affect us anyway. We actually stayed out in Hounslow and used the tube and buses for travel. Got an Oyster card for the transport. The comments about contradictory pass/fail are a worry though. I bet it catches people out.
Out of curiosity I just checked. LEZ is for vehicles other than cars/ motorbikes. Vans, lorries, pickups etc are included.
The Congestion Charge ( £15) is payable in that zone plus a ULEZ charge if your car isn’t exempt.
So, my car would need Congestion charge cover only as it is outside LEZ criteria and no ULEZ charge.

We run a power to weight class structure, so this lets us classify the cars correctly

Was thinking of the 305 figure rather than the racers ..... 🙂

That was a verbal statement from the dealer. Stock is 280 bhp I think. Either way it is fast enough

Indeed John ..... 280 is a lot of power for a light car .... demands respect.

Power quotes are really problematic ..... different dynos on different days can give varying readings .... and then there's varying 'rules of thumb' people use to try to work back RWHP to what the motor might be producing at the crank .... depending how optimistic they are the guestimate can vary between 20 and 'whatever' HP transmission losses 🙂 .... could be the 305 is 280 on the dyno +25 for a crank guestimate? Which would not be out of the ballpark as these things go.

As Simon says .... if a race series classes the cars by power to weight, they all get dynoed and weighed on rhe same gear .... absolutes don't matter then, just how they pan out relative to each other.

And 280 lb / ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. the max power is at 6,000 rpm. State 0-62 mph is 5.5 s

The S1 by comparison is stated at 206 lb/ ft at 4,900 rpm, with 223 bhp at 6,150 rpm and a 0-62 of 5 s.

Williams Mog, ran an open Dyno day a few years ago & the original Mogmag did a writeup

They tested a stock 3.7, actual output was 297 bhp, and the tester said there was still a bit more but it hit a 155 mph limiter

A few years ago, I drove a 3.0 Series 1 Roadster, which I really liked.
However, the roads were damp, so I was being rather cautious.
I remember that it had a lovely gearbox.

I’ve also driven two +8s, both times with the owners alongside.
One was a mid 1990s 3.9, the other, one of the last from 2003.
Lovely exhaust note, but I found the Roadster more enjoyable to drive.

Could I be tempted to change?
Maybe for the right Series 1 Roadster, but having owned my 4/4 for 16 years, I suspect not.
