Yep and the conductor had a long (insulated) pole to hook on one or other pickup arm when it fell off, which I recall happened often when the driver was distracted.

Andy G, another point on the emissions malarkey if you do any touring in France you need the Crit'Air sticker for an increasing number of areas, does your +8 have a euro 3, 4 or 5 on it's V5
I must admit I hadn't even considered the French Crit'Air legislation.
My V5C does not specify any standard for emissions, does it pre-date Euro 3 I wonder?
A 1999 +8 is critair 3 (sticker colour orange) like my 2001 +8. Even me doesn't understand all as the legislation changes every day. I have never been asked by gendarmerie or police nationale about my sticker which is not on my windscreen so don't bother about it on a Morgan with english plates.

I plugged my +8s details into the simulation on their website and got a Cat 3 or orange classification. Not sure if that is restricting or not , but nice to know that the system is easy and quick to use
With critair 3 you are allowed to drive any day without restriction except if there is an alert about pollution. For cities it seems you forgot Grenoble agglomeration, Lyon métropole and Paris métropole (Paris + suburb), Lille métropole and many others, it evolves evry month !

Yes, I've ridden a tram or two up there Richard :), but never seen the trolley bus(es) running. Some years ago one of the volunteers was trying to get me interested in helping to restore one of the other buses (that may have come from Belfast, but I can't remember now). DaveW I'm aware of the trolley bus museum - it's on the must visit list

Trolley buses were my everyday transport as a kid in North London .... my uncle worked at the depot .... they were smooth, quiet and bloody quick off the mark!
It's an excellent museum. First time there I took who enjoyed it (particularly the tram rides, although we couldn't go to the top of the site due to high winds). Have since been with a small group of Morgan owners. Great days out

This chap was a neighbour of our friends who live near Wells. His scale model Trolley Buses (all scratch built) were brilliant. Sadly, he passed away last year.
