Personally I’m tempted to just put a few 1.5” holes around the outside of the standard cover. Maybe the 9, 12, and 3 o’clock position (with the 6 o’clock being open from the factory).

Some people have told me this would be a bad idea because of rain but I highly doubt you could get enough in there to cause a problem (heck many modern cars even have water injection to cool down intake temps and act as a natural octane booster). Heck the factory Stage 1 intake is open along the entirety of the outside.

I think the most important part of this air cleaner is the stinger inside the throat that comes with the cleaner. I bet if you could put that stinger into the stock air cleaner , with maybe a modified can/cover, it would work as well orbetter since the oem cleaner has a larger surface area.

I really like the black muscle cover and was wondering why I could not find it. I was assuming it was a winter issue.

I remember Morgan West used to install the Kuryakyn Mach 2 high flow air filter, but I vaguely remember something about issues with how the weight of the filter is supported. Possibly worth checking out.

A Kuryakyn Mach 2 was installed on my car when I got it. It did not have the 'ears' supporting it that attach to the cylinder cooling fins like the above photo. Without the 'ears' the intake will eventually destroy one or the other of the intake runner gaskets at the cylinders and cause air leaks which will throw error codes. Basically the engine vibrates so much and the air cleaner weighs so much that the two try to part ways at the intake runner gasket. Emil makes supports now that fixes the problem if you want to go with a Kuryakyn because you cannot find a Stealth. I replaced my Kuryakyn..... with a Stealth and love it. But I think throttle response was similar between the Kuryakyn and the Stealth.
