I have driven a lot in heavy rain in both Switzerland and New Zealand, with an "open" filter with no issues.

Remember, the filter needs to be oiled occasionally which will retard the absorption of water. I just reoiled my filter this past summer. I did have a rain sock fitted but decided to remove it because I was concerned it was affecting the air flow through the filter. They say it doesn’t but subjectively I feel the engine runs better without it. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/02/20/BD5BAB54-E1BC-466F-81F3-16E66E12BEC9.jpg)

Just a thought, yes I have them time and again... I have a newer Harley CVO with their free breathing air filter. It's filter material similar to that of the S&S, but on a Harley they are sideways relative to the M3W. With my CVO I received a waterproof sock that you are supposed to put over the air cleaner when it's raining to keep the filter from getting water logged. Now keep in mind that on the Harley the AC is somewhat out of the way on the side, but with the M3W, it's dead smack facing forward. Here's my question. Anyone ever run in the rain and get a carb full of water or a water logged filter? Without a water proof sock of sorts, I can't see how one might keep the filter dry while driving in the rain. Any thoughts? Hope you all have a great weekend. I was under the impression we were fuel injected, so no carbs?

I have had no problems with it. The biggest problem I had was getting the filter soaked with oil from the CamChest.

I reverted back to my "old school" days and just said carb as a generic term, again sorry for that.

I looked on the S&S web page and it showed the 170-0200 air filter and mount out of stock. I call Morgan Motors of New England and they said they would order me one. It arrived in about a week. This was last month. I also wanted the chrome muscle cover but the dealer said S&S no longer sells that cover. I called S&S and they also told me they could no longer get the parts to make the Chrome muscle cover. I went on ebay and found two motorcycle dealers who both had over 12 of the chrome muscle covers and for less money than what S&S wanted when they had them. Now I have to install the new airfilter and cover. Next comes cutting a hole in the baffles.

I also wanted to get the stealth air filter and chrome muscle cover. I called S&S and was told the back plates are back ordered and they no longer make the muscle covers. I called a Morgan dealer here in the states and they said they could still get me the back plate but not the muscle cover. I found two ebay bike suppliers that both had a dozen of the chrome muscle covers new in the box for less money than S&S wanted. It came new in S&S packaging.

Well, I was able to get one through Vital V-twin cycles. Maybe S&S made some more
