We are in our early 50s and we have jabs booked next week... Wow, that's good. Are you in a vulnerable group or have they done all the over 60's round your way already? You've got to hand it to the NHS, they're doing an amazing job of delivering the vaccine into people's arms - and of course the military doing the logistics planning.

Following reading this thread, I have my first appointment next Friday. Mrs F (already 64) had a letter last week and has hers booked for Monday.

Well said. Hats off to everyone involved in rolling out the vaccine. I was due to have my first dose on Friday, but had hers on Wednesday and they did mine too, saving another 25 mile round trip. It did, however, confuse the NHS booking system as I was unable to then access my details to change the second appointment to the same day as . A phone call to 119 had them scratching their heads too as they couldn't access them either. It took a couple of days for the system to catch up.

All done. Nobody checked my credentials or questioned my need to be there.

There does seem to be some non-joined up thinking on this. My surgery has joined up with a large group in town over booking vaccinations - invite should come via SMS and vaccination would be at fire station across town. This morning I had an invite letter (from NHS) giving web link and phone number to book vaccination. Nearest site for online booking - 3 Counties Showground at Malvern, 25 miles away! So, keep travel to a minimum?? The second vaccination will be even further away (unless I can get it changed). Seems a bit daft when the fire station is only a couple of miles away! Hopefully it will be nice and warm and next Monday - good for a run out in the 4/4

Graham .... as I understand it you get the NHS invite to a main jab centre with the automatic option that, if it's too far from you, that you can wait for a GP organised jab locally.

It is odd. In Felixstowe we got a text from the GP & the NHS site won't work for booking the second jab. John

I think what's happening is that local surgeries and health centres are getting vaccine deliveries based on their patient stats, and the big centres are getting bulk deliveries and are allocating them as they are booked. So a local surgery like mine that has loads of old codgers may not be able to offer vaccinations close to home for us youngsters, but we can get them by travelling to a big centre like Malvern.
Either way, 10 miles to Gloucester for my first and 25 miles to Malvern for my second is no problem at all for me. There are loads of people out there who don't find it as easy to travel as me so I'm quite happy for them to have the local vaccinations and leave me to to go a bit further for my doses.

John I looks like the .NHS site is set up so you HAVE to book both visits, it's taken me a few attempts as by the time you accept the second date & time someone else has nicked the first one you selected, so it reads 'puter says no, and you have to start all over again...first jab 17th for me

+1 Mrs F went this afternoon - 13 miles to just north of Leicester. Jab 2 booked already at the same place. I go on Friday to Derby - around 15 miles. The nearest centre to us is 9 miles away so we are hardly badly served here in the East Midlands conurbation.
