Yes I know that was crazy, I really must be more sensible in the future!

I presume this is as a result of 'oil burping' after a period of inactivity (and corresponding wet-sumping)? Or is it something more serious? In any case, I hope you get it cleaned up and back on the road asap.

Thanks Bunny. It sounded fine and made no funny noises before/during or after.. my thoughts are it could be a blocked oil line and perhaps the oil pipe behind the air filter has blown off with the pressure as it is dripping from the air filter housing.
I was dropping it off to AW for some work so I guess I will get the call later to find out whats wrong with it.. :/

Mine has done that once before, it had been sitting in a container for 3 months on the way back from NZ, on startup a great splurge of oil came out of the filter. After cleaning it all up and the floor of the shippers warehouse it started and ran fine all the way home and ever since with no reoccurrence.

That is interesting, how did it get out the air filter?

Not exactly sure, but I guess the sump had filled with oil and the path of least resistance was up the breather to behind the air filter, the engine actually started easily followed immediately by a gulping noise and the oil coming out.

Perhaps reroute the breather to an oil catch tank may be a worthy upgrade..rather than the air filter box?

This makes more sense now I have been to see the half disassembled engine, I didn't realise the crankcase breather actually connects to the oil filter housing! I thought that line was an oil line running behind it..

Looks like the same has happened to mine, period of inactivity and a bit to much oil in the sump. I am asking them to check the oil lines as a precaution for blockages, incase that is what caused a little build up in pressure?

So next question.. the cambelt got a little soaking in oil, albeit for no more than an hour or so (as it happened just as I parked it at AW).
Normally you would change an oily cambelt, but as it is quite literally brand new (50 miles old) and was cleaned up shortly after I have decided its probably a bit of a waste (espicially being non-interference).

Lets hope my logic is sound!
