Think the "breadvan" looks great as does the Taycan. Can't justify the contract hire prices on the high end EV cars. Even with tax breaks, low fuel (electric) bills I haven't seen or been in one that has persuaded me yet...Silence isn't golden. First EV arrives at work next week, which is a Tesla 3 and I think I'll go for one of these and take the cash (need extra funds for the Plus Six-which will be on a PCP more than likely).

Heres another way of looking at it.
If 90% of privately purchased cars in the UK are bought on PCP's and by 2030 you can not buy an IC engined vehicle, from 2025 ish onwards PCP residual values on IC engined vehicles are going to be horrendous and therefore in about 4 years time there will be pressure to take an electric vehicle, rather than IC engine.
4 years isn't that far off and there aren't currently many EV vehicles to choose from. If I was a manufacturer, I would be knocking out any EV variant I could dream up from my parts bin on the basis that demand will be high and supply will be limited. How many other large EV "estates" are currently available - none as far as I can see. From 2030 you will not be able to buy a NEW IC engined car. But my understanding is that it will be fine to buy/rent a used car. I suspect that residuals on IC cars will not change much, they may even improve as people face the true cost of electric cars on a monthly basis. I predict that the car makers will suffer and people vote with their feet, unless the price of small and medium sized family cars are in some way reduced to be comparable with ICE. Only the business sector will go electric, so company cars etc will switch, but many who have a IC car they understand will stick with them a lot longer than the Government expects.

At least as long as gasoline does not have to be bought at the pharmacy again for 20€ per liter. Just like Bertha Benz on the first trip with a gasoline car.

Yup, it wouldn't fit down our lanes for sure... another fat wide Teslaesque shape.. Don't think Porsche are targeting that sort of driver. But seeing as it's only 6.5 inches wider than a Plus Six, I think it would fit and run circles around it to boot!

You'd be surprised, there are always a few tanks with Yummies at the helm dropping off the brats at the village school, they keep the tin bashers in business so not all bad news. Our rock walls are unforgiving. Not being funny but that difference is a lot in our lanes. I expect my Plus 8 is of similar width to the Plus Six and that's plenty wide enough. I'll bet it won't find a ditch quicker than a Plus Six

I quite like the Taycan compared to many things with batteries. Comments on the handling and experience do make it sound like a fun car. The price is either just scary or generally Porsche like depending on your perspective? I was more distracted by it being "cross" with the skid plate and half ferret height when being a Turismo would have been enough like Panamera breadvan.
Getting an elephant to hold its nose straight out and up does not make it a Unicorn. You can call it a unicorn but it just remains silly.
The whole pricing issue surrounding BEV's at this point means I am not ready to invest. I do still find myself looking at Teslas and spending more time on the sites searching for a seriously loaded 1 owner X or Y P/D model. A two/three year old P100D ludicrous version of the X would be quite interesting and a bit of a giggle.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

From 2030 you will not be able to buy a NEW IC engined car. No quite - present ruling is new hybrids will be allowed to be sold up to (including) 2035.

I can feel the hate already...
I have a Taycan, leased via my own limited company as it just made financial sense. The monthly price is high (and if it was a personal purchase I wouldn't have bought it), but that is being taken from gross business income that would otherwise be subject to 19% corporation tax and a further 37.5% dividend tax rate. For a private purchase I would have had half the amount of money to spend. The BIK for this year is 0%, then 1% next year (almost there actually), and 2% the year after. I've worked out that on my EV friendly electric tariff it will cost me £400 to fuel (electrify) it for 12,000 miles in the first year, servicing will be minimal and no road tax. Compared to my thirsty Audi estate which would otherwise consume £400 per month of petrol, the Taycan is actually not so expensive.
I think MJF is right, the residuals on ICE vehicles, especially normal everyday cars are going to be horrendous in just a few short years. I think halo ICE sportscars may be different though. Sounds like a good way to finance the deal! I like the look of the Taycan.
