Can the variant issue be really tightened eg Auckland has gone into another lockdown among the tightest immigration controls going, the originating source of the latest outbreak is still unclear.

Secondly In the latest statistics of hospital admissions on the Fylde Coast a big retirement area with over 60% of the population over 65 the age band now forming the highest level of hospital admissions is 30 to 34years of age.....vaccination programme has not reached much below 60 years of age target audience yet we see the current infections and hospitalisation in a much lower age bracket........is this the impact of covid variants or more a reflection of life style of the hospitalised admissions.....

Or is the vaccine working for the over 65s and keeping them out of hospital?

In which case you would expect the highest level of admissions to move to a lower age range.

I'm certain that as the over 60s become resistant to the virus it exploits a younger group, who may also me taking a more liberal approach to the rules.
It is one reason why I'm a bit apprehensive about the consequences of the return to school.

Considering the impact of the virus on the older age groups, as they become less vulnerable it's inevitable that another age group becomes dominant in hospital admissions .... some absolute numbers would be good here .... my guess is we've gone from thousands of oldies hospitalised down to hundreds of the younger age group .... as the vaccination age moves down we could get to the point where early twenties are the biggest hospitalisation group .... but if there's only five of them it won't he anywhere near comparing apples to apples.

Illuminating (and somewhat depressing) look at the vaccine business.

One startling standout (tho, as we're talking about the financial jackals of the investment world, not that surprising ) .... is that those companies raking in the billions in profits from other people's vulnerability have seen massive share price increases on top of their profits. The British/Swedish OxfordAZ company pledged to provide at cost, for the good of humanity while the pandemic continues, has been the only one to see their share price fall .....

There are likely to be hospital cases for quite some time but reduced numbers. Those in there are likely to be from anti vaccination people, the small number that the vaccine fails to protect ( it is not 100% effective remember), those who blatantly ignore common sense on congregating and hygiene. As lockdown measures ease I expect to see outbreaks but hopefully containable and not require widespread further measures. Probable repeat vaccinations in the future as the protection level is learned and virus variants require vaccine modifications.
The future looks like we have to accept a risk level that leaves a manageable infection scenario. The question is ...How risk averse do you feel? What risk level do politicians feel acceptable?

Acquaintance in Belgium has been told not to expect vaccination until May.
He is 85.
They don't expect to get down to the 30 year olds before the autumn.

What a shambles.

I dont see why that is surprising. If the company makes a profit and is wrth more then the value of shares goes up. If the company operates as a non profit socia;l service then it is worth less and so are its shares.
