Probably did around 40k miles split between my i3 ownership of 2 cars both were REx, never had any significant issues, the 'puter automatically runs the range extender engine for a warm up / test cycle every few weeks if you don't use it anyway

It was very useful to be able to fall back on the REx on long runs without worrying too much if the charge point was broken down on your planned mid route stop, (sadly happens a lot) the only real sphincter test I had was blasting back from London up the motorway, we'd just passed a services with 5 miles range left and the REx failed to ignite

So does the REX mean you can drive indefinitely? If it comes on does it limit speed or anything?

Only limit is petrol capacity of around 12lts, easily did 100+ miles between top-ups, speed not really limited, although if the battery is REALLY depleted with no re-gen it hasn't quite got the 'umph' acceleration you get used to

When I first saw one on the road I wasn't keen on the shape/style, but it has grown on me over the last couple of years.
Most amusing bit was on my way back from friends in Somerset in the 4/4 via a nice x-country route. One crossed my path at a small roundabout, with both occupants in the front waving and grinning at the Morgan

Somwhat was your real useable range in real use?
I've also heard that if you leave a fully charged one on your drive for five days or so, it has discharged anyway....did you experience anything like that?
Presumably, you don't have to leave it on charge all the time do you?

Probably me then, if it was cocking a rear wheel

First one was the early 60kW and did perhaps 90 miles (on pure ev)
Second one 94kW, did 130 ? ish
It's very hilly where I live, and adversely effects range (oh and the acceleration is addictive)
The discharge thing is a naysayers myth ! even unused for 2 weeks, never lost capacity
I have a home charge point but the 'bosses' car blocks access, so I only topped up when it needed, then a FULL charge on a weekend, the bonus of leaving it plugged in is the app that allows you to pre-condition it so it's toasty warm & defrosted on icy mornings & it takes power off the charger for this so you jump in at full capacity / miles
