Bought a new garage lift prior to a DIY fit of SSL 5 Link. Took half a day to get it sorted and first lift was a bit scary - Karen questioned why it was scary because, 'that was what it was supposed to do', which is true but as we all know things sometimes don't go as expected. Hope to receive the SSL kit shortly and then the fun starts - they are waiting for new components at the moment.
And a card painted by her for my recent significant birthday.

Good luck fitting the SSL 5 link Chris. Would love to see pics as the fit progresses.

Hey ChrisP I am also very interested, but more in the car lift.
I looked it up and it seems good value for the money.
Can you recommend it?

Greets.

ChrisP, having just fitted the SSL 5 link I know you will have fun and the lift was a wise investment. Just make sure you have the latest revision of instructions as there some older versions out there as well. Not big differences, just enough to get you head scratching. I found what I assume is the latest version in the SSL web site.
I had to re-pipe the hard line on the axle as the flexible from the chassis to the axle was quite short and so the attachment point (on the axle) had to be moved on the axle. My car being a 18 reg had metric pipe fittings!!
Cheers,
John.

Mattmog - Lift seems fine and I've had the car up and down several times now. Reasonable headroom underneath and it feels very secure. I had a problem bleeding it initially; nothing appeared to happen beyond pump noise so left it for 30 mins and tried again when all was fine. E4G have responded quickly to a question I had and seem keen on feedback. Early days for a strong recommend but it appears to be exactly as advertised and demonstrated in the video with the Cayman.

John - 5Link wise, Peter and Dan let me know today that the kit will be delivered next Thursday so I'm going to begin dismantling over the next few days and fit thereafter. Thanks for the tips.

Chris

Chris,
what are your garage tiles like? Mine have underneath a cross hatched pattern of ribs i.e. not flat?
Does it move OK over the bumps on the tiles?

Hi John
The tiles are Mototile Cointop Motolock, which I bought on ebay - 32 for £32. Coins on the top and a ridge pattern on the bottom. Trolley jack and the lifting platforms both move fine over the coins (but no movement when the car is on either).
Chris
