I can think of a Morgan owner who had the same.
Took three MoTs before a tester noticed the difference, too grin2

#drift mode on/
I had a car from MB Leasing which had the wrong plates on when delivered to me new.

Went to register it for LondonCC autobanditpayment and it told me I was driving a FIAT 500 pop in pink. Bloke on the phone from LondonCC said "so it's the wrong colour. They do that a lot". I said it's a jet black Mercedes E63s estate, do you think that is difference enough for me to be certain?

When I lived in Nairoberry plate cloning was rife for getaway cars. The problem with that was that the police shot to kill robbers.
The tax people also sold the same reg twice & pocketed the cash. Our accountant saw a car with her reg several times.

Many years ago a car ran into the back of my dad and drove off.
Several by-standers offered him pieces of paper with the vehicle registration written one them.
A guy came forward "Even better I have his registration plate!" (It had come off the front when it hit my dads car)

It was different to all the numbers written down by the by-standers......................

Not quite Graham - They'd written down the number of the car as it was fleeing, the rear plate....... The number plate was from the front of the car

Different plates front and rear drive

BTW
Think I read somewhere you're ex HPES / DXC?
I'm just awaiting my "individual consultation" for redundancy from DXC.......... I'm in a "pool of 1".... Think I can work out the odds

The best reply was-> get another Morgan and use both

Now why I didn't think of that in the first place I'll never know ......

Someone out there has got W33 MOG on retention ( well the DVLA say not recorded, but they say that about W33 SUN which I have on retention)

Well own up -> whose sitting on the great W33 MOG? and do you want to sell it to complete this collection ?

Anyway we've had a lot of fun in our house and yes, we're still undecided.

thanks everybody

Yes, made redundant back in 2017. Was EDS Defence prior to HP takeover. They were trying to get me back in for first (phone) consultation the day of swmbo funeral! My (distant) manager was ex NW area, relocated to that rather large campus at Erskine. HP had no idea of many parts of the EDS "empire" they'd taken on, DXC even less so! I have occasionally read The Register articles regarding DXC and am glad I got out when I did. With the bereavement leave / timing I did reasonably well.

Good luck for the future Ian, there are better companies out there to work for. smile

PlusTim:- good luck with sorting out your number plate quandrary! grin2

There are some wonderful small / medium IT firms out there desperate for the kind of skills that an ex HP employee might have. Management aptitude varies but at least you are working for people who know who you are.
