I am not saying that 12mR is the only way to go, I say that match racing should be match racing, not an ultra-high tech computerized drag race in super expensive machines that are so complex that they have extremely little in common with anything else that floats on the water. Untill now there has been very few races in which the result was not predictable a few minutes after the start. And due to the boat speed the duration of each race is so short that it is almost impossible to recover from a mistake, bad wind shift or difficult position. TV/sponsor/onlooker-friendly - yes. Spectacular speed - yes. Fascinating boat engineering - yes. True match racing - sorry, no. Sounds just like Formular 1 cars.... Right, but F1 races are "fleet races", so there is always a close fight somerwhere, there are points to be gained and there is a next race coming up un a week or two with new possibilities. And there is the duration aspect. An F1 take more than an hour, usually aprox. 60 rounds round the track, pit stops, tyre changes etc. So there is more than one single opportunity to make your gains. Who would want to see an F1 race with two cars match racing each other going continously round the track a few times and then it is over? The beauty and exitement of for instance tennis (or soccer, for that matter) is it's simplicity. Now big boat sail racing can never reach that level of simplicity, there is always equipment and tecnology involved. But AC75 as match racers? Again, sorry, no. Personally, I think that would be fantastic. The perfect test of machine and driver skills but each to their own.... Just imagine for old time sake -James Hunt v Niki Lauda, no one else on the track no pit stops 20 laps, go your hardest Yes please but in identical cars.

Yes please but in identical cars https://drivetribe.com/p/senna-v-pr...aexMX1mP5xdtQ?iid=CPa46JXuRK6y5N58BlhheAThere was also rumour of them leaving the Italian GP at the same time in two rentals and on handover at the airport not having a straight panel between them. No one will ever confirm that though?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Long day on the course yesterday with a couple of swims but the thousands afloat well behaved with a large police presence watching us come back in. Incredible scenes in the marina when we tied up with girls on boats either side of us dancing topless and general revelry everywhere, I wonder what will happen if we retain the cup. You know you are getting old and conservative when you are down below checking a problem with one of the toilets instead of watching that.... I dare say some of those women will not be too well this morning when reminded of what they got up too.

So, who is it going to be then?
I would love to see NZ retain the cup but I have a feeling that if it comes down to a last race decider then Spithill might just be a bit more aggressive and go for broke. He's certainly got experience on his side.
Shame about the wind earlier but let battle commence again.

The first race was great Prada won the start, but we read the wind slightly better and once ahead sailed our own race extending to the finish, the second race honestly was a bit of a farce, with a small mistake by us ending up 1.5 kilometers behind -then they ran into the top mark light stuff and fell off the foils long enough for us to catch pass and lead by that much at the (shortened windward mark) finish. Weather very still here this morning so hoping to get a race in at 5pm ish.
