This may have been mentioned before ....

I needed to fill up with fuel today before a run out ( down to 8% ), during the fill I decided to experiment.

At that level of fuel I knew from experience I would get about £25 worth in and fill to somewhere in the 90% on first click. No second clicks here ......
I decided to stop filling every now again to give the balance pipe a chance to fill the left hand tank.
I have no idea how long the tanks take to equalise , but I set an arbitrary 5 seconds fill pause for every £5 I put in.
To my amazement it went up to £30 before the first click , and filled to 100% , which I have never seen in 7 years of ownership !

I will be trying this again on next fill , but if anyone else wants to give it a go , please report back !

The received wisdom I found reading this site was to fill to the third click, as the pauses between clicks give the two tanks a chance to equalize. I've done that consistently and never had a problem with rough running. I do see 100% after a fill.

Now, it may be that all pumps are not created equal, so this may not work for all, especially across the pond.

Ditto when It had mine. Did try four or five clicks once and got a bit of spluttering plus MIL but cleared within a couple of miles.

The price of the petrol has gone up again and the fuel gauge is inaccurate as usual. 😁

After a couple of early coughing instances after refuelling I fill to first click on pump, wait 2 or 3 secs & repeat to 3 clicks. Dont immediately put the internal cap on just flip the top cap over, pay for fuel refit both caps & away, I works for me. Last week Morrisons was £1.24/l, they have just introduced super unleaded for extra 10p/l.
