I too have seen the CAD drawings and watched them develop over time. The finished CAD product is a stunning Morgan modern Plus 8 and I have no doubt the team at MMC will strive to deliver it.

I like the concept of a modern plus 8.
Agree with most of the other re wheel size and style and the seats need to be in keeping.
I'm sure Morgan will get it right for the production cars.....fingers crossed.
Oh and I would like to see it sitting much lower.

Robbie, I've just been out to look at mine. I still think the svelteness is being lost as the width increases, particularly at the rear. There are those who prefer the narrow winged cars I know, but for me I think the plus four of the late eighties /early nineties seemed about right. So I think I'll concentrate on improvements and keep the car that I have come to like so much - maybe the new engine, gearbox, and axle from the roadster later on if it can be made to fit. Obviously there is a lot of potential left in the traditional shape but one wonders whether the gamble of a completely new shape might be worth it. Meabh.

Yes, they had just finished the first pre-production prototype Plus 8+ First impressions are very positive ........... ...........it does feel really well planted and also very light and without the same slight roll-oversteer you get with most post Series I Aero's, but there is now doubt that it is fast and there is certainly nothing much wrong with the set-up straight out of the box. I think you avatar should be changed to that of a 'Dream Weaver'

Looks promising and I'm in full agreement with concept. I'm on record as saying that there is a gap in the Morgan range for something like this but for me it does'nt go far enough. Personally I still think Claudio's mock ups in the photos archive dated 04.02.11 are spot on in terms of what this link between the old and new should be. His use of the Aero headlights on the wider trad body with Aero wheels looks fantastic. In my opinion, without some sort of defining styling like that it won't have the required impact in being a proper link between the old and the new and people will still be looking at the bonnet badge to see exactly what trad model it really is. But great to see some proper progress in this direction.

Today the +8 prototype was in the back of the trimshop. The hoodframe was up but nobody was at that moment working on the car.I also noticed that the cover around/between the exhaust pipes was removed. The tape was still on the front wings.Speaking to somebody in the shop it was said that they are aware of the looks of the wheels and the seats,so probably that will taken care off. Also the price range was mentioned between 70 and 90k GBP.I got the impression from the workers that Morgan is looking for a pre-Geneva introduction.
In the body shop the workers were busy with a second +8 body. This one had no engine. It was the modified alu tub with all the ash attached, but no bodypanels yet.
The prototype looked very nice, but for now it is not a replacement for "Tango".
