Possibility of northern lights over the weekend

Spaceweather.

SOLAR WIND, INCOMING: Minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on May 2nd when a stream of solar wind is expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. The gaseous material is flowing faster than 500 km/s from an Equatorial hole in the sun's atmosphere.

Keen to keep up the tradition of thread drift, here is a great Cowboy song that mentions the Northern Lights in the chorus.

Just in case anyone is interested in looking for meteors:

Spaceweather.

ETA AQUARID METEOR SHOWER: Earth is approaching a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, source of the annual eta Aquarid meteor shower. Just last night, NASA cameras detected an eta Aquarid fireball visible in bright moonlight over Arizona. Forecasters expect the shower to peak on May 5th with 10 to 20 meteors per hour. Southern hemisphere observers will see twice as many as Northern observers. No matter where you live, the best time to look is during the hours before local sunrise.

METEORS FROM HALLEY'S COMET: Today, Earth is entering a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, source of the annual eta Aquarid meteor shower. Forecasters expect the shower to peak on May 5-6 with 10 to 20 meteors per hour--10 in the northern hemisphere and 20 in the south. The best time to look is during the hours before local sunrise when the constellation Aquarius is high in the sky.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: A CME is coming. Hurled toward Earth by an erupting filament of magnetism on May 9th, the solar storm cloud is expected to arrive on May 12th or 13th. This is not an especially fast or powerful CME, but it could spark G1-class geomagnetic storms and auroras at high latitudes?

AN OFF-TARGET CME MIGHT SIDESWIPE EARTH TODAY: Minor G1-class geomagnetic storms are possible on June 1st when a CME is expected to sideswipe Earth's magnetic field. The storm cloud was hurled into space on May 28th by departing sunspot AR2824. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras, especially in the Southern hemisphere where autumn darkness favours visibility.

Missed this one yesterday. May have been visual aurora lat night? Possible tonight.
Spaceweather.

THE SOLAR WIND HAS ARRIVED: Earth entered a stream of high-speed solar wind on 7th June flowing from a Southern hole in the sun's atmosphere. The action of the stream could spark a minor G1-class geomagnetic storm?
