My high beams 2017 M3w won’t stay locked on . I can blip them on by pulling the turn sig stalk towards me. However pushing stalk forward does nothing . Does not turn the high beams on and off - as manual states. I just replaced my complete stalk and switch . Nightmare ! Apparently I didn’t need to because it fixed nothing !
Can someone help ? Has someone had this issue ?
Is it a simple fuse ? Is it an issue in the “ lighting box “ unit by the fuse box ?
Appreciate any info . It’s very frustrating/ Morgan . Ha

Thanks but I checked the fuses .
My lights and high beams work fine. The high beams just don’t latch on when stalk is push forward . Should be able to turn high beams on and off. NOT just blip them by pulling stalk back .
You wouldn’t happen to know the FUSE ? Lol
There’s 3 a main beam relay fuse
A main beam
And a “ slipped “ beam ? I suspect that is the “high beam “
My fuses are good . There’s a “ light control unit “ below fuses- it’s a Relay .
Anyone know exactly what’s going on ? Thanks
Spent all day in this already . Was sure it was stalk switch and it wasn’t ......

You could check fuse 7 (20A) headlight relay and fuse 10 (5A) TSM headlamp/flasher unit. If they are both OK it could be a problem with the TSM unit not latching.

Not wanting to be insulting, but you have got the dashboard light switch two clicks down, because in position one (side lights) it only flashes and main beam doesn't engage.

No problem. I’d be insulted if you didn’t insult me ! Lol my new ride is a near mint 2017. The “p” main dash light switch has one position ? Down . It snaps down.
I will check both those fuses . I will give the M3w a harder look today. I’ve had it a week. I’m highly self taught technical, so I’m pretty dangerous. I replaced stalk unit yesterday... cause in my “ expert “ opinion, that was the issue. Lol. Keep in mind , I have head lights , my high beams work when I pull back stalk.
The high beams DO NOT work / engage and stay on when I push /click stalk forward?
That’s my issue. I’m also confused related to “dim”. My car is to run in a mode - where lights are 10-30% of main power /dim ?
Sort of like daytime running lights ? And this is confusing too ! “ Dipped beam “ is what ? Low beam ? Then what’s “ main beam “ ? Then making matters worse, my manual identifies a fuse as a “ Sipped “ beam #17
My manual says to toggle my dash switch , not TWO positions . I will mess with that. Manual also says main beam can be permanently turn on by pushing stalk forward , once dash switch is on ? Will mess with that . Thanks I do need and appreciate the help , does anyone know where I can get a 1982 Dodge javelin headlight switch? The kind that goes “on and off” and your headlights go on and off ? Lol

Another possibility is the headamp dip/main relay is faulty when triggered for main. This is one of two controlling main beam, the second being for headlamp flash which appears to be working. If you can identify them and they are both 5 pin ones, swapping over may prove the thoughts.

A simple thing to try before you go further into despair is to disconnect the battery and go and have a cup of tea. After the tea or beer reconnect the battery turn on the headlights and try the main beam without flashing, as they say, if it works you have reset the main beam. With all the attempts at trying to make it work you might have flashed and not reset, which can get you arrested. Worth a try!

There are two different types of light switch fitted to M3W. Euro 3 with 3 positions, off, side, dipped/ main beam and Euro 4 with 2 positions, side and dipped/ main beam on with ignition and park, side lights on with ignition off.
