Hopefully, the great unwashed holidaying in the UK this year will provide a much needed boost to the hospitality/culture industries.

Off to Shuttleworth in a bit. Paid £30 to look at some daffodils. Still, every little bit will help ensure it stays open for future generations.

I'm an avid UK holidayer - only had two overseas citibreaks in the last 20 years. Happy to put up with a 'busy' year, and paying a little extra if it means they're still around for me to enjoy next year when it quietens down.

Yes that is exactly what the UK tourist industry needs, a massive cash injection from people spending. I'll be joining the great unwashed at my favourite UK hotels in the coming months, doing my bit to help.

Received an email from the Caravan & MH Club yesterday, an invite to book Beaulieu 2-29 July, they want the fees
up front and confirm if it is cancelled they will hold your monies for a further booking, yet again someone trying to grab
money to hold onto and fill their Bank whilst emptying mine.

Ahhhh....... Now I know, I'll wave as I drive past drive

I mustn't complain too much, we are fortunate to live where many people travel quite long distances to come to visit. Its a great place to live. Sometimes after having the place basically to our selves (the locals) over the winter, it can be hard to share when the sun decides to turn up along with the day trippers for a day out by the sea. Come 4pm they are all starting to head home and we can enjoy the beach etc again.

I'm looking forward to freedom.

We have a rolled over trip to Majorca staying in a villa and so distancing could be easy. BA re-scheduled last year to May 17th this year - yippee. Here's hoping the Spanish authorities allow us in, if not then another roll over.
We have another roll over to September to Madeira which looks more likely. Both these are without the Morgan which is a pity as that's why we bought it - not madeira of course. We'll travel to Wales for 3 days in June to pick up a puppy if the litter is successful.
Current thinking might be something in November for a few days, probably a city break and I'm thinking about driving the Morgan down to Slovenia to complete a Covid interrupted assignment. This is my last business action and should have been complete in January 2020, retirement will be mine after this commitment, by which time I will be 71.

So, all in all, we are taking whatever opportunities are available, picking up bookings made back in 2019 and adding others as we go. I'm cautious, not squeamish, about Covid dangers and will take my chances while I still have them, friends are variably less cautious and more cautious and so each of us should take our own decisions and I believe not rely on Gov.UK telling us precisely how to act; or Dave-down-the-pub on how to interpret the rules.

It's Morning Morgan Time

Have just been on a coastal drive with Tony. Seaside spots were totally rammed. Holland On Sea was crazy.

Pembrey Country Park near us has a Caravan Club site just outside the gates and a large campsite inside. Over the weekend there were convoys of campervans and caravans going in.
A neighbour opposite died of Covid late last year and their campervan was sold last week.
We considered one years back but decided against. I’d be tempted by a VW style for overnight stops as it could be an everyday vehicle being small.
I think this year and next will see roads full of them. Unless Europe sees Covid cases plummet then many regulars there will stay in the UK instead.
