Thank you for the report from Lawrence's Memorial Service.

Then this... I have only read some small snippets here and elsewhere, about the new one, but this was something different. I agree with Boshly et al about the wheels; and I also think there are some bits and pieces in the interior that perhaps should be different, and the rear end, and perhaps at the front; laugh2 but then again, it's far from a final version. smile Thanks for the info and images.

I guess it depends on what they're trying to achieve, as a modern version of the trad. (if you can have such a thing?) then I think they've achieved that well. Personally I'm not keen on the wheels or seats but maybe they won't be in the production models, think it would look better with bonnet side louvres as well. I like my Plus 8 because it looks old oldgit but performs well drive, the more wood and chrome the better for me.
Sounds like the price isn't going to be crazy so I think it'll sell well.

I'm sure if you send a LOI and enclose a £5k cheque made payable to MMC you will be near the head of the queue (just behind Aeroman hide smile )

Aeroman, great scoop, I love the look, that mix of progress and past. Those clean lines with no side bonnet louvres, over riders, or wing lights, plus the spoked alloys does look good.

On reflection I'm not really sure what its all about frown Surely the charm and the essence of a traditional Morgan is the whole package with the ladder chassis , ash frame and original suspension?

I can see the reasoning behind the Aero as that doesn't try to pretend to be a traditional Morgan. Or am I missing something?

The current car is a development car, as Brian mentioned (and put various disclaimers against laugh2 ), therefore, to judge it on aesthetics would be rather unfair at this point.

My hopes for the new Plus 8 are: a set of wheels and interior that bridges the gap between Aero and classic.

Whilst the Aero chassis and suspension don't require a higher sidewall on the tyre, it does suit the character of the car better. The actual rims, IMHO, need to be subtle and not ostentatious - the SS wheels are my least favourite of any Morgan wheel on offer. I'd love to see the +8 on a modern interpretation, or even an original set, of Minilites or similar without low profile tyres.

Interior - blend the old and the new. The dash looks promising but whilst the SS seats may be comfortable, I am not sure they sit well inside the car. They look too tall from Aeroman's photos but that could just be the images. The right leather treatment and excellent trim will really make the car special.

Thanks Simon, that's very much the point. It is a typical Mog pre-production car in that they have used whatever parts are closest to hand, thus the Aero SS wheels which one can pretty definitely say will not be the wheels used.

Matt I know has a design for new, but more traditional seats on his computer, and even some of the body panels will be finessed before the car becomes the finished article. The prototype body has really been developed in the old Morgan way of build one and let's see what it looks like, rather than being a product of CAD/CAM, though there will have to be proper drawings done for the Superform front wings.

I am sure the Team at the Works will come up with a final product deserving of what will be in effect a Supercar Trad and they may even be watching threads such as this to gauge reaction to different specs! englandwave
