HELP PLEASE!

Now I didn't get this right ..... Recently took over a 2004 Roadster with Easy Up and was impressed etc after the traditional hood I had on a 4/4

problem -> very happy with the access to luggage area facility with the handle inside the drivers side ( did this ok and was impressed ) and remembered to undo the poppers at the side every time but simply operated the hood with the clips at the front WITHOUT releasing the handle to slacken off the back part of the hood ---> all gets sealed up ok and apparently works fine BUT the luggage access handle facility --that is the handle to slacken off the back part of the hood has no response now AARGH


what have I done. , presumably overstrained the handle rear release mechanism and what do I have to do to fix it ?

Currently hood can be operated without the back release but am I continuing to do damage ?

Watched Allon White Youtube on the Easy Up - after the above mess up and realised I done wrong

+Tim, if you reach up under the body, having removed the spare wheel, you'll find the cable to the spring locks,; you may find it's stretched, but when in a similar position, I found I was able to release by a sharp tug on the cable, then was able to grease the pins and mechanism, which resolved the problem. Just add the checking/greasing to a 6 month check list.

Try pressing down the hood ra at the rear opposite side to the lever

Cannot see why you may have damaged or strained the rear release Tim given your description. It may be simply the mechanism needs greasing as suggested. I now always press down hard above the driver side catch whilst simultaneously operating lever. It is a little scary how much force you have to use though.

I made a slight adjustment to the spigots on the hood today (undo the locking nut and unscrew a couple of 2 turns) mine was slightly tight, now it’s easier to pull the handle. As John said pressing on the rear of the hood when releasing the catch makes it easier.

Always undo the front fasteners of the hood first , and press down on the rear .

Be careful when you adjust the rear 'pins' to do a full 360deg turn as some have a slight bend & if you only do a 90 or 180 you can end up with them not aligning with the strike plate
