A group of Three Wheelers, organised by Ian Parkinson, will also be going to the Picos in mid-September.

I mentioned before I am preparing for a trip to the Picos de Europa. This is in my travel literature too.
Someone else may find the name and location of the church.
Should be rather easy now

Getting very warm. Well worth a visit.

Let me throw this into the Mix.

[Linked Image]

If anyone gets it 100% correct I'll stand them a beer or two!

I visited it on a business trip in the mid 1980s, to a country that frightened me more than almost any other I'd been too.
I was meeting the Government Pharmaceutical Company, selling Dichlorophen BP which was made by BDH Chemicals Ltd in Poole.
Unfortunately the Civil Servant was in prison, so I met him in the visitors room, complete with two armed guards.
Quite crazy!

Would it be the Entoto Maryam church by any chance, in Addis Ababa.

Well I'm amazed!

Well done! it is and I owe you a drink when we next meet!!

I was there during the Civil War, getting a visa wasn't easy and the only hotel open to western visitors was the Hilton, it stands in its own grounds and has an outside pool fed by geothermally heated water.

There was a dawn to dusk curfew, strictly enforced for the majority. I went to see the local distributor, part of Inchcape, who had a permit allowing him to go out after dusk, up to 11pm. He took me up to the Church in his Golf, which struggled at 3200m.

And why did the government buy 1000kg of Dichlorophen BP to make tablets a year? Because the national Easter dish involves raw pork, so to make sure that tapeworm was kept under control they distributed tablets.
The drug works, but it isn't nice and the treatment is no longer considered safe.... there are far nicer antihelminthic drugs.
