Emissions for IC engines are tight and getting tighter and the control systems are getting ever more complex.

An electric drive train is relatively simple, reasonably upgradeable and will have a decent life for the model.

I also suspect the current M3W has not made them any real money with all the chassis rebuilds and various upgrade programmes to cover emissions/other regulations so the new investors will be making sure this one pays out.....

An incisive assessment Dr....

It seems like the newer Plus Four and Plus Six models, while "improved", have seem to go up significantly in price. I expect that whatever guise the next M3W takes, may also involve a significant bump in price. While improving the cars, I think they may be pricing it out of reach of some of their target market. For the M3W, I do agree with some of the speculation here, but think Morgan might even try both an IC and EV variant to ensure it will work in multiple markets. So whereas they may lose some of the low end luxery market buyers, they won't lose some of those countries due to environmental regulations. Thus they would be working on retaining the model over a longer model life span.

I've heard that Morgan is looking to expand their sales representation into other high end dealerships, which would indicate they wish to make the higher price less of an issue, whilst increasing their market exposure to buyers who might not have otherwise heard of Morgan. I know they now have an investment group looking to ensure that they turn a profit, it will be interesting to see where some of these new directions take the company.

Well for me, I won't have a battery operated car. So if they make it into a golf car, I will find other things to invest my fun money. I was hoping they would put a BMW motorcycle engine in them. If so, I will be very interested in adding another to the barn

Not sure if the bmw 3cyl will last long.
On the 218i, starting this year, they already replaced it with the 4cyl.

I agreed with Hogzilla until I test drove a battery powered Mini this afternoon. I was impressed. Replace the chunky body with a minimalist 3W alternative and the power:weight ratio could make for an exciting drive . . . and no drive train problems (but you may need a trailer for the batteries!)

The i3 drive system would be great, and it's BMW who are established as MMC's engine partner

I am right there with you. My daily has been fully electric for nearly 10 years and I was first drawn to the three wheeler when the EV3 was announced. The instant torque and unique sound will make it different than the rumble of the S&S but no less entertaining!
