I apologize for not tacking this up to a previous thread, but I cannot, for the life of me, find the recent post dealing with a major crack at the wishbone bracket, which prompted my checks.
I wanted to alert owners that, while addressing some headlight upgrades, I noticed flaking paint and minor rust in the same place in the rear top wishbone bracket on both sides of the vehicle - almost too similar to be a one-off defect. As the rust seemed quite superficial, I opted for a remedial approach. That being said, in light of the failure in the previous post, I would urge everyone to make sure that this is not a hidden weakness, ready to come haunt later.
Additionally, for the record, the parts book is not quite clear that the brake connection at the other end of the wishbone is a ball joint - I subsequently found a couple of threads that make that clear, but it is confusing if you are just working off of the parts book.
Finally, but this could be a one-off defect, I also had to address some minor rust right below the headlamp structure on the chassis piece.
