Whats wrong with a hat, coat and gloves? Scott of the Antartic never had a patio heater!
Well, Scott was not particularly successful. Although I do not think a patio heater would have changed that.

Thanks, the general opinion seems they are a waste of time so I'll have a rethink.

A friend who worked in a pub near us said they cost a fortune and most people said they did little to nothing. Also the eco elements are a question given that all the resource used has little direct benefit. He had a good line in branded emergency blankets that he gave out to people who were cold. Free. It worked quite well. Someone said they were cold, he handed them a free emergency blanket which had the pub name on it. It was just printed with the pub name. People kept them and used them. He then approached one of the beers for co-branding and they saw the effect and thought it was great. They cost peanuts. £0.60 Quick example. https://www.esedirect.co.uk/p-2758-emergency-foil-blankets.aspxAny help?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I knew you were joking. Refering to your question: we have well insulated houses, warm clothes and good heating, including heated floors. No stone or brick floors. All new windows are double (or triple) glazed, with argon gas in between. Many homes have open fireplaces, and inverters (reversed air condtioning units) are all over the place. As for clothing: wool, wool, wool. Now Norway is a very long country, with climate ranging from severe arctic to mild coastal, the latter because of the Gulf stream. I live in Bergen, mild and wet, wet, wet. So driving a Morgan here is similar to advanced masochism. But the scenery is stunning, wherever you look. Come visit us once the pandemic is over! Excuse me for hijacking the thread, just could not resist...

When we did a cruise of the fjords we had 30c in July and no rain in Bergen. It was cloudy though.

Hey, I remember the Mersey freezing over. Was about 1960 and that was between Wallasey and Liverpool.

1963 was when we had the big freeze here in S Wales. I remember playing ice hockey with sticks and a pebble on the nearby river that had frozen over. We had a nice shallow area so safe. The local reservoirs had a good thick layer of ice but water below had lowered so the ice had sunk in the middle. We were hoping to see it crack but didn’t venture out. As for outdoor heating. Unless you have a BIG heat source you will need clothing. Think of it as a hell of a lot of draughts that take the heat away. The more enclosed the area is the less heating capacity needed. You could always buy heated gilets. Think of it like a Morgan......hood down needs heater for the legs and warm clothes. Hood up = more snug and less warm clothes.
