Hi All,
I may be the only one who have had bad experience with this little devil and I thought it only happened on the S1 but I experienced it on the SS as well. The symptons are you are happily driving along when suddenly all power goes - power steering being the biggest shock - and you have to find somewhere safe to stop asap- on the S1 it happened at 70 mph on the A34 and I can assure you life does flash by you! The SS suffered the same fate and I had a new switch installed at the dealer but it happed a couple of times since then. The car now is at the factory having the new window mechanism installed as well as the "factory upgrade" to the fuel gauge but they did look at the switch and said there was a bit of corrosion at the connection that they feel is the problem - and found this on other Aeros. So, if you are experiencing the same issue it may be worth checking there before commiting to a long wait and a chunk of money for the switch.
Just for clarity,this is the isolator switch under the bonnet that also helps preserve battery life

I had this on both of my previous S1’s and both times it was the MAF Sensor.

I've seen this switch on an Aero Plus 8 (assuming the same) and it bears all the hall marks of a current triggered resettable circuit breaker. May have some bearing on random trips

After a jaunt to the Italian Car Day at Prescott today in the Aeromax (well it does have Lancia tail lights ) returned home parked in garage and as usual isolated the battery. 10 minutes later realised hadn't emptied the boot (which works off a solenoid on the Max) so open bonnet press isolator switch back in key in ignition...nothing . Try pressing switch to flick isolator...err lets call it a tab out and do again except now it doesn't flick out Any tips or ideas appreciated as now can't start the car??
Not sure it's related / relevant but engine management light was on today (last time I used it was off and previous time it was on so assumed as not using much (did have it's 2 camshaft sensors replaced by the factory 6 months / 400 miles ago?
Hopefully drier weather on the way for everyone to get out (even saw a blue S1 Aero on the M5 Northbound Wednesday near J14)

Try disconnecting battery at terminals for a few minutes. I believe the current trip/isolator doesn't isolate everything.
