I am told that all new Plus Four (CX) brakes squeal. Mine certainly do. This isn’t a squeak it’s a loud squeal just before the car comes to a halt and it’s impacting on the enjoyment of driving the car. In fact, it’s so loud it’s actually a bit embarrassing. A bit like a London Black Cab but worse.
I have asked at two dealers and they both say all new Plus Fours do it. I asked a Plus Six owner if he encountered the same problem and he didn’t.
It seems a very strange issue to go unresolved on a new car.
Do any other new Plus Four owners have the same problem?
Is anyone aware of any fixes?

My plus four squeaks! However I believe the factory have a cure - at least they have promised to send my dealer the means to solve it - he and I await with interest!!!!

Heard it for myself from the KH Plus Four auto demonstrator on long term loan. Not a single sound as it comes to rest at a junction say, but a persistent high pitch loud squeal. This particular car I didn't get to test drive due to a rad leak from new, another very common fault. Coming back to the squeal though, if there is a quick factory fix, why hasn't it been deployed on this particular car a year down the line confused2

2 weeks ago I got to drive a new plus four ( 156 km ) and the brakes were perfect .... no squealing at all.

Someone on here had one on loan recently and reported they were awful . Long pedal travel & wooden feel. He felt the car under braked vs the engine power.

It seems some are better that others.

The demo car at Brands Hatch Morgans was fine when I drove it for about 80 miles in the dry. I must admit i did not encounter any issues with the KH auto car either, but I was driving on a very wet day and I probably wasn't using the brakes as much.

Both cars had a longer pedal travel than I would have preferred, but I felt each of them was adequately braked.

Or perhaps I drive without using the brakes as much as others all the time?

Mine do and yes it is annoying at times. No issues however with travel or stopping.
At the moment I am still in the phase of viewing it as being a free feature kindly added by Morgan which lets Lady HB know that I’m approaching our home so she knows it’s time to pop out the front door to open the garage, thus allowing me to drive straight in. 👍. Therefore it is saving me having to pay a large amount for electric garage doors. There an argument to say she is running out so she doesn’t have to hear the squeal twice (as I stop on the drive and again as I pull into the garage)...
Tough life I have....😇🥰
Must confess however if there was a fix I’d probably grab it...

The demonstrator I drove didn’t squeal and the cynical part of me thinks they clean the brakes on these cars often. When I first complained about it the dealer said there wasn’t anything they could do as the brakes are “ a bit hard on this model” but they had given them a good clean. Driving home there was no noise but it returned after 100 miles or so.
There is some travel on my brakes but I was ready for this as it’s mentioned in almost every review. However, there is no issue with stopping power and it’s something you get used to very quickly - a bit like when a new clutch bites.

The brakes on my Plus Four started squealing as I drove it off the forecourt and they haven't stopped since. Its booked in for a service fix at the dealer next month. I'm told its an alignment issue (how the pads are presented to the disc) rather than a pad/disc material issue so I think cleaning is only a very temporary fix.

How the alignment issue will be addressed I am not sure but new calipers or caliper mounts or shimming somewhere seems most likely. I'll update when I know more.

CX brakes are not a strong point as many have pointed out - even on the less swift Plus Four. They are certainly easy to modulate and give good decelleration eventually - if you push hard enough and far enough - but mine has very long pedal travel, poor intial bite and is a bit spongy. Again the dealer has promised to look at it but I fear someone will tell me it is a CX charecteristic.
