At one point he was tempted to try a Stanley blade which really made me draw breath having witnessed someone slip with one and completely split his thumb down the middle many years ago

I guess we have to remember that these folk are volunteers and do not necessarily have years of experience working with tools undoing corroded fastenings with minimal damage to that which the fastenings are holding together. There is likely to be some real expertise amongst the volunteers, just a pity the likely outcome of the footage in question will cause them far more of a reason to cringe than it may have for any of us...? I was for switching the TV off lest it got worse, though along similar lines to that which others have typed, the programme provides another opportunity to observe machinery that otherwise I would be unlikely to see up close and in the metal.

I was only just managing to hang on in there during that episode what with wheeling that Jordan around and the arrival of the PP3 car they were making a meal out of it, that's volunteers for you though.
We had a few when we overhauled our Church Bell Tower when we went from a six to an eight bell tower and it was like herding cats, lovely people but ...

I note that the "finished" Hillman wing job did not have the sidelight refitted. Too much trouble & it will save having to remove it for the next repair?

It moves at the speed of...well, retired people enjoying themselves.
But I enjoy watching them and it reminds me of BDAC.
The comments about passing on the craft skulls resonated particularly as we lost 2 of the crew at BDAC in the last 4 weeks.
Gerry, our photographer and Colin, who rebuilt the Sedbergh and an Auster AOP: their skills and personalities gone to the great repair shop in the sky.

For me, the biggest surprise is how much Sanjeev Bhaskar sounds like Stephen Mangan.
