I replace mine last weekend. I got lucky there was no tape or silicone holding the large retaining ring and it was easy to remove (mine is a 2017). The two part plastic cover was wedged between the top of the pump and the wood frame. It was a Pain to stamp back in place. Almost thought about trimming it but it stamped back in place after several tries. I tried to order the pump from Glenco in the UK but they said they dont ship to the States. They recommended to order from Advanced Automotive in the UK. It came as a kit with everything I needed. The filter that goes on the bottom of the pump came it a very small push on nut to secure the filter. That went flying thru the air when I tried to push it on and spend 2 hours sweeping the floor trying to find it. I would not have even tried without the great write up from Ian and Andrew.

Phil Bleazey has recently reported a problem after fitting a Walbro fuel pump. Those that have done this job know that the rubber foot supplied needs to be sliced into two parts in order to fit the fuel pump housing. Phil has noticed that the rubber has swollen over time, indicating that it is not compatible with the fuel. We are not sure whether this is a recent problem just affecting new parts or whether it has always been an issue. Fortunately, I am not aware of anyone needing to remove their Walbro pump (apart from Phil) which might have alerted us this problem sooner?

Phil has contacted Glencoe to report the issue, but in the meantime it may be prudent for people doing the job to re-use the original rubber foot (which is possible with a bit of judicious trimming with a sharp blade). If you are planning to remove your Walbro pump for any reason then it will be prudent to make sure you have an alternative replacement part to hand before you start.

Alternatively, you could test your Glencoe foot by measuring it, then leaving it in a jam jar of petrol for a few days before re-measuring it. If its dimensions haven't changed then it should be safe to use.

The complete fuel pump is not identical to the original for fixing the exterior fuel connections, so I made a metal part to re-seal the fuel connections, I replaced the pump with Walbro GSS 278 190lph it seems to me largely sufficient for the flow of gasoline and must consume less electric ampere.

Wow, that's different.

Found this on the web - they reckon it's off an early (1992 on) 4.0L V8 Land Rover Discovery.

Very neat adapter you've made. notworthy I wonder how the fuel pipes are attached in the Discovery?

The fuel pump is much quieter than the 255 LPH and works very well despite the high fuel consumption.
