Thanks to all for such a warm welcome -very much appreciated, regards, Paul.

If any of you have any useful tips for keys aspects of regular maintenance or recommendation for best accessories / upgrades / tyres etc I'd be delighted to benefit from your experience and knowledge. Cheers.

Here's another pic of my very much loved Aero.

Hi Paul. There's not a lot you can do to the engine easily, due to access and complexity. Servicing is probably best left to a dealer, it's wings and cowl off to change plugs and air filter. So a bit fiddly to do much yourself other than a fluids and visual check.

A battery conditioner is a must, as they seem to drain down the battery within a few days.

Quite a few Aero owners have added their own twists to their interiors, ICE, speakers. Though many of us feel the side pipes supply the best soundtrack!

Allon Whites do nifty headrest pads that slip over the headrest, but from personal experience they tend to fly off and out when "pushing on" get them to add a flap to drop behind the seatbelt arm to hold them on.

The windscreen wipers are useless (it's the same on all Mogs) and take care adjusting / tightening the wing mirrors. The quarter light glass breaks easily and I believe they are rarer than a flying pig nowdays.

Most of all get out there and enjoy it.

Yup, never expect it to have a snag free status.
Do the miles and the niggles melt mostly.

As a matter of interest why do you feel the performance needs improving. The S2-S3 engine comes alive at about 3600 when VANOS kicks in so just stay

Mind the SUMP, do look into a sump guard if you have road problems in your area. The engine is far back from the front axle and so as you drop of a speed "pillow" you can land the sump. Ditto the crown of a hill. You have the singe VANOS 4.4 engine and the oil pickup from the front of the sump drives the mechanism so no oil due to a dent or damage will possibly wreck the VANOS. Sumps are not cheap (£500+ swapped)

The clamps that hold the lid to the screen are easily replaced and quite cheap. They do improve the sealing. If the clamp just flops about then the springs have gone and it is best replacing them.

Water can get in around the leading edge of the doors and ruin the flat leather along the sill between the door and seat. It starts to wrp once dry.

If you want to retain the paint then consider paint protection film on the nose, leading lower edge of the rear arches, and possibly the sills to avoid hoof marks.

The audio does benefit from an upgrade. The sidepipes get noisy about 3000 on that engine so you can still listen to it at least part of the time. It will pull from 1400 in almost any gear when you are feeling relaxed.

Enjoy.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks David R - The first thing I did was to add a C-tek quick connector and I have changed the stereo for the new Blaupunkt BREMEN that they have recently re-launched as the lack of coloured twinkling display seems to suit the car a little better. Alastair, I agree that the performance is fine and doesn't need adding to and thanks also for the tip on the sump, there must be a few horror stories out there as you're not the first person to have mentioned this to me. Thanks all for the helpful feedback. Cheers, Paul.

The windscreen wipers are useless (it's the same on all Mogs) I changed the arms and blades to Caterham items. Problem solved!
