I echo every ones welcome and you have a stunning car!
As a bit of an update on some of the comments from other owners, I have just picked up the SS from the factory as it needed a service and also some major items sorting. The passenger window winder had failed and this came in around £700 for a new unit including labour which is what the folk on here advised. The oil sump had a weep around the drain plug and obviously been smacked a couple of times with it being so low. A replacement one along with labour for fitting was £300 which I thought was very reasonable. The ever useless fuel gauge had the upgrade and is now only 30% useless - still not great and reads 3/4 full when in fact is is brimmed full! An item I never knew it had- as it never worked - was a headlamp washer which had a new pump fitted for £130 which again was a fair price.
Lastly, a real gem was updated wiper blades which they call "soft" and they work nearly perfectly - a real revelation!

Thanks for the recent options for the windscreen wipers - they are definitely pointless - I was contemplating using DuxBack windscreen treatment which I've used in the past and if applied properly means you don't need windscreen wipers for 90% of the time anyway! I agree on the fuel guage when the car is full - at first I had assume it was user error in the angle of the pump etc, clearly not.

Gramrugby - do you have a link to the Caterham part number(s) you purchased and are they a straight swap / any mods required?

I recently saw peak useless - 3/4 full on the analogue dial, 1% on the digital readout.

As Alistair mentioned earlier, the sump guard from Wolf Performance is a must. It has saved my engine a dozen times at least - before fitting it I had a damaged sump plug just from driving over wet mud - car had to be trailered to garage etc. As Alistair notes, the engine would be ruined with a loss of oil.

The sump guard is more of a rubbing plate - when you know something is going to be a bit tight, you go gently, you can make contact and your sump/engine is protected.

Definitely do this. My +8 is lower than some exotics that I've owned.

They fill up their order book before making a batch of rub plates.

Also, would his sump guard fit an S1?

I don't think the N62 engine at the bottom has changed much, if at all during the development from 4.4 at 286bhp to 335bhp (as that was done via change in the valve timing and lift with the variable cam) and then the 4.8 is also obviously a top-end change. In addition his website is not specific on any model of the Aero which either suggests the kit was made to fit a particular car and has not been tested on many others or that it fits all Aero - would be nice to have this stated though.
