Does the weather get in? There are two issues: there is a rectangular slot for the connector and that would require sealing, and condensation. What I suggest is to use a conformal coating on the electronics.

That's all from me today as I need to go into the office and do some urgent equipment repairs. Last night I put together a little circuit board that will simulate the VSS and I have mounted a knob on the Morgan Loom panel that will be marked 6mph to 60mph. That needs connecting up and testing. I am now certain that the vehicle speed has an effect on the TSM's behaviour: the next few days should give us the answers.

One final comment: there are two 10A relays on the board yet the current sensing circuits cannot provide anything like that power. The repeater lamp is probably a bulb and maybe 5W 12V and the front and rear indicators are LEDs using less power.

This leads to a question for you chaps: are all indicators LED or do some vehicles use 12V 5W bulbs or similar?

The indicators are all LED as standard. Not sure what the instrument repeaters are as I have not had the instrument apart. The TSM doesn't seem to suffer with weather getting in as it is buried under the fuse box that is also under a cover and in the centre of the car. If that gets wet the car is probably under water.

The VSS input seems to have a capacitor to ground. I would not do something like that myself ;-(

18V spikes are no problem to that circuit. The CD4072 is rated at 20V. It is the spikes of up to 350V that can occur when the starter motor is de-energised (causes back-EMF) that will exterminate it, and you will not realise it's dead until you eventually switch off the ignition and the engine continues to run ;-)


As to cases, I like the idea of going for white, then it's obvious if a Mark II has been fitted.

What is wrong with the rear brake? I can look into that once this project is under control ;-)

I suppose the relays are there so you can hear the ticking, rather than to provide lots of amps.

I can easily change the timeouts to anything you like.

The Repeaters are normally on the side of the car, on the outside. Tend to be just behind the front wheel arches.

The left and right instrument panel bulbs are connected to the LED indicators. Probably very small lamps.

The ECU unlock code is also an interesting job. ENIGMA is one of my other interests ;-)

There are no side repeaters, only front and rear led's and the dashboard lights.

Think the Australian version has side repeaters but don't know if they are LED

You are correct, but not that many cars can be in Australia, according to the parts book bulbs until March 2017 led's after.
