We don't have a local farm shop, there are some good butchers, but not close enough to use regularly.

The Dorset Meat Company meat is a bit more than Tesco Finest, most of which is Irish and has far more food miles associated with it.
The T Bone steak was £16.95 or £: Tesco don't offer Rib Eye but comparing Rib Eye Dorset Meat charge £39.80 a kilo, Tesco Finest is £35.00 a kilo.
I'm happy to pay that to support local farmers.

Dexter beef is brilliant - around half of the production at our local farm shop is Dexter. Lovely flavour.

Back onto EVs... this Kia Ionic 5 looks nice for £37K versus say a diesel Disco Sport.

Yes the Dexters are a very popular hardy yet biddable breed down here and they produce great marbling in the meat and is high quality.

South Devon and Ruby Reds are the norm down here for beef but the Dexter herds are slowly increasing here and in Cornwall.

Agreed it’s a privilege to eat food produced within sight of the house. Great farmers market here with food from the town hinterland.

When young ( all ages up to late teens) I spent a lot of time on my uncle’s farm. Mixed arable with a herd of Friesians and market garden style veg. He supplied all the local Coop supermarkets, many greengrocers in the local markets, shops.
Early morning milking was great. Alfa Laval vacuum milking system carrying the milk in stainless buckets to the “ dairy where it was filtered and cooled into churns. First bucket in, jug to collect a pint of cooled milk ( cooled to below cow body temp). Delicious. What was even better was helping another uncle who had a herd of Jerseys. We called them Dancing Girls. Music was played in the milking shed and I swear they danced to it. Tails swayed, back legs tapping and swayingEven more creamy milk.
When out collecting veg we would sometimes pull, say, a carrot, scrape it clean with a knife and eat it raw. So fresh and tasty. Same with swedes/turnips, cauliflower. Some cabbage leaves too. Spring cabbage raw and peeled leaves off.
Food in general was farm produced, eggs, chickens, dairy and veg. I’d catch wild brown trout in a stream that went through the farm, best I have ever tasted. Eels too. Mmmmmmmm
My aunt is still going strong at 99. Eyesight is failing so she has stopped digging the garden for veg planting. She exercises daily and her party piece is touching her toes.
Back to EV......a local farm has a field filled with solar panels. An alternative source of income without the vagaries of farming. There are also some wind turbines dotted round.

In which case you'd stop at a supercharger for 10 minutes - it's not that much different to petrol to be honest. I think there are 650 Tesla superchargers in the UK and all very well spread out - so travelling 200 miles means you'd probably pass one nearby.

It’s a poor choice in Scotland, not many Tesla chargers at all, and out with the central belt, no superchargers, mostly just 7kw.

There are 11 superchargers in Scotland at the moment - from Inverness (the most northerly) to Abington in the South... Fort William in the west and Aberdeen in the East... so you could easily do a 200 mile journey and find a charger at the end. But the holes seem to be out towards Stranraer and where my friends in Campbeltown are - but you'd be charging overnight at home. It really wouldn't require much planning and at 3p a mile Vs 30p + in a petrol car, some may think it worthwhile.
