Last call for a UK bulk buy of the ARP studs! So far, only Rockabilly John, NippyMog & JMD have expressed an interest... A kit of: 4x ARP Stainless Steel Studs 4x James Gaskets (2 + 2 spares) 4x Kaynar Nuts (Jetnuts) ...will be £47.80 all in including UK postage. PM me by Friday 14th June if you want to be added to the list. p.s. These are cost prices - no profit for me!

A coda of sorts. I had only replaced one of the manifold studs with the ARP/Jet nut combo at the time. The stock steel studs that came with the car have either sheered or worked their way out while also getting rusty. Had an incident just yesterday while on the road when one of the lower studs decided to leave the building. Had tools and the new ARP/ Jet nuts ready to go so we were back on the road within a half hour, allowing for cool off time. After that another stud worked its way out while the previous ARP combo held everything together so we could get home. I'm going to have to retap the the hole for something larger as it is totally stripped aside from the deepest 1/8" which is not enough! The vibration and engine movement have taken their toll on the exhaust manifolds. I just don't think that there is a simple fix as the engine has over 53,000 miles on it which means it is a ticking time bomb with other things ready to go off!

If you tap and use a helicoil insert then you will be able to use the original size studs

I've had to helicoil one of my exhaust studs and It wasn't too hard to do in situ. I completely removed the header pipe to give me plenty of room.

Thanks Rog G and Bitsobrits for that advice. Most of my knowledge comes from reattaching missing bits and obvious broken part fixes. In my previous life I used a loupe and worked in semi-clean rooms for the printing trades. I can deal with a helicoil
