Richard, my replacement Bobbins and U clamps are not stainless, I only used stainless spring washers. The new Bobbins are polyurethane and not rubber bushings either. I understand polyurethane generally last the life of whatever vehicle they are on ? while rubber Bobbins might need to be replaced multiple times depending on environmental factors and how many miles are accumulated.

I might consider changing the U bolts to stainless though, if I can get them in 54mm and 58mm ?

When I replaced the clamps on mine a while back I lightly brushed some copper grease over them to see if it would give some protection. I’ll give them a check sometime.

Love the colour Craig love

Just check the PU doesn’t suffer from heat conduction from the cat.

I've found the bobbins issue is not the rubber or even the bond of same Craig. As the rust takes hold it creeps under the bond so rubber becomes free to break away with rust still attached!

Great work Craig thumbs

If anyone wants OE looking black poly ones they are sold by Mini Spares at around £3 a pop

That’s good news then Richard, I don’t want to run out of jobs, it will keep me busy in my man cave replacing them again.

Absolutely, and here wink

Good opportunity whilst in this area to cut off excess thread on bobbin studs to increase ground clearance. Ditto seat bolts.
