Yes Murray, mine too the RHD one on mine is about 3 to 4mm down on the the outer edge... My head wants to put it right but then the essence of handbuilt takes over and it'll stay that way
It's tricky though as I'm a compulsive picture straightener wherever I might be..

Howard, that "box" as you call it was a rather well thought out by Kevin, the restorer of his +8 as it was at the time, it is lockable fibreglass case with Morgan logo painted to match the body colour of the Mog, and could be securely fixed to the SS rack to make it less easily detached by would-be thieves, internally trimmed to match the interior and hood colour, the dimensions carefully thought out in order not to restrict a view of any rear lighting and more important it`s height on the rack such that view through the rear view mirror was not blocked, all of which served us well when we explored parts of southern France Spain and Italy over the years, at times having to leave the Morgan parked in various cities we visited. Of course there were other versions created of a somewhat triangular shape by another Morganeer, but Kevin`s "box" design seemed more attractive to me... Just supplying more insight to the fitted case, and not a rebuke relative to your comment Howard, each to their own..?

Bought my 97 +8 a couple of yrs ago I paid 30k for it same colour and wire wheels and it had done half the miles as the one at auction I’ve since spent 3k on it getting the rad upgrade , leather renovation, bonnet stays , Union Jack badges , brakes rebuilt , service etc.next year it’s king pins and steering rack and maybe a look at the dashboard, I just think the buyer has paid over the odds not taking into account what it may need . I may have paid to much for mine but getting the right colour,engine,year with low ish miles takes time so I did overlook a few bits . Hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine . While I’m here can you trace a car back to it’s build ? I’ve got a +8 and my father had one in the early 80s but I only have the reg number just curious

It’s extremely rare for the steering rack to wear out, I’ve “refettled” many back to better than new my simple blue printing, and hand fitting of the parts
Hard chrome kingpins and phosphor bronze bushes like we and others manufacture (although IMHO ours are the best) will also help tremendously with steering feel and weight

Hi Simon , with regard to the steering rack it was Oakmere garage that said it needed a refurb due to play in the rack and it would need to be sent away to be done they also said there was excessive play in one king pin but the steering feels fine to me , I’m no expert and these jobs seemed beyond my capabilities

Seems to me that there are many variations on personal financial evaluation relating to buying a Morgan and the actual amount of financial outlay may not always be the priority..? Of course for many there will be a variety of limitations relative to other financial priorities in life, however I suspect that there will be many a Morganeer who perhaps would not ever choose to buy a new Morgan at any time, preferring older machinery for a variety of reasons, and there seem to be a few of us on here ... ? (-:

I suspect many a Morganeer has relished the thought of a degree of involvement with his/her Morgan, either by learning new skills or making good use of a wide range of already acquired skills, thus the determination of a Morgans value in the purely monetary sense may not be down to the number of after-market accessories or modifications it has, but the promise it presents for an enthusiast to engage in all that a Morgan can provide, and cyberMogging is very much a part of the enjoyment for many given the number of posts and posters, not only on this forum but many Morgan forums that have preceded it ...(-:

I hope that whoever bought the Mog which some think was overvalued, finds that it was more than worth the expenditure to him/her, just as mine has proven to be for me much as I suspect many other Morganeers have discovered over the years...?

As Morgan’s seem to hold their value, I was interested that my friend has just got a Porsche Spyder. 2015 model. He paid a tad over what it was new. The car is immaculate. I had not really noticed them before, interested that it is probably the last of the normally aspirated cars.
