Italy is great for traveling. I drove there years and years and enjoyed the area off the main roads. Never got a speeding ticket until last year when a automatic radar trap got me. But be aware of the "area traffico limitare" which is open for local cars only. The fines can reach you up to 3 years after you ignored the sign. Agreed I prefer Umbria to Tuscany. Similarly beautiful towns, great roads but far fewer tourists. Spoleto I really liked.
