I asked the boss qoute "God invented hotels, keep the Morgan" That works for me too - though tends to be B&B in a pub with decent food/ale/wine

Graham you know Janice she turns left on aircraft if she can. Standards are important for Leos. To be fair she likes a good B&B in a pub though. We did Eurocamp once at her insistence with a toddler & a crawler child. Never again.

In the 80's and 90's I had a regular business run in a 3.5 ton van to Italy and back, maybe four or five times a year. For the first 15 years I always made one stop in France to break up the journey in each direction, nominally between Dorset and Lake Como, although I did the return journey non-stop a few times. I always used the French Logis guide to find new hotels as they offer excellent quality on both food and accommodation. Although they varied according to price I don't remember ever being dissapointed.
I would love to re-enact some of those journeys in Morton.

Richard, lets discuss when we next meet. There is a keen contingent in the GEG to go back to Como. John

Sounds like you are ready for a change Bonesie, just hire a smaller campervan maybe like the newer VW Classic one's with the Golf engines but nice lines and not humungous. These guys are in Guildford and have a variety to chose from. We never holiday in the Plus 8 as Heather doesn't like the ride so it's always a tin top with aircon/or roll back roof in her car and hotels or self catering but absolutely nowhere without water closets and a shower. We don't do trains, planes or coaches.

Morgans are perfect for touring long distances. It becomes an adventure way beyond what any modern car can provide.
The thing is, the joy is being on the road, in Scotland that can be almost any time as it's so quiet off the main season. More locally, get out early. 5am in Summer is amazing and we do coastal trips, and home for lunch.....avoiding the unwashed.
Where you stay doesn't really matter although we avoid cities because we don't like that environment. For me, a camper van or caravan would take away the joy of the open road. I would rather go on the train!

Simple, sell the caravan, sell the Volvo, keep the Mog and use the funds saved to pay for accomodation, the storage savings alone would probably cover a weekend away once a month! If you stay in small B&B's they are often well priced, much cheaper than a hotel so problem solved. You can thank me later..

Keep the Mog!!. Not a fan of campervans, but if you really want one, you could tow the mog behind a camper!
