Hi all
Quandary.
Thinking of selling the Morgan and buying a van conversion. As a couple we enjoy going away and seeing new places. We have had a 6 birth motorhome before but sold that as it was just too big to explore in. We then bought a large caravan to give that whirl and enjoyed the freedom of using the car while 'home' was set up on a campsite. We used that a few times then thoughts turned to buying a Morgan, so we sold the caravan and put the money towards the Mog !
We are into the third year of ownership now with the Mog but last year we bought a cheaper caravan which we've used maybe three or four times last year when restrictions eased for a time. We love the camping 'thang' but I must admit, dragging a big white shed around is not my favourite activity, though great once set up on a site. So we have figured out that as a couple we enjoy going away but the quandary is this.
We can go in the Mog of course. But then we have to find suitable hotels which can be 100 + a night and then find and pay for meals out etc. Then if we go to a town or visit a site there is worry about parking etc etc Add to that we never feel very comfortable on the motorways in the Mog and we feel quite vulnerable. We have a Volvo which isn't cheap to run and the caravan is in storage which is also expensive.
So potentially we thought of getting rid of the Mog, selling the caravan and the Volvo and getting ourselves a nice camper conversion !! My misses has her own car and I work from home so the Volvo is little used apart from when we go away and at weekends but we could use the campervan as a daily / when needed instead. And because the Volvo would be gone it can stay at home so no more storage fees.
Has anyone gone through this or similar process ??? Its a bloomin headache :-) We LOVE the mog but maybe the freedom a van conversion brings might be better suited to us and our lifestyle.
Thoughts ???
agha ,you have been tempted by the devil.never sell the Morgan. Use it to transport your self between hotels and b+be, enjoy the adventure of classic car traveling.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Surely it’s a simple answer... sell the Volvo and the caravan and then that is your budget for a camper.
And another option is as above but buy a van then convert it yourself, paring pros for the hard bits like windows, roof etc and that way you will even make money.

So if it is really a cost thing - tha calculate the true cost of a camper van.
If it is about building things and improving a van to it`s best - it might be worth condsidering.
I use the van for business overnight as a hate to pay the full fee for a 5 hours sleep without breakfast. And I do have full work environment where ever I am.
On vacation it is the other way round. No amount of horses could track me to a camp ground;-)
Family run small hotels or B&B are the best way for me to get in touch with locals. Only beaten by visiting friends....
And there is the cottage. No other reason to keep it as this is the only stable place in all my life and I can feel at home instantly.
So it will not be the pro and con table to decide upon. It reminds me of a Winnie the Pooh striper where Piglet asks Winnie: "How do you spell love?" Winnie: "You don`t spell it. You feel it!"

Campervan with a trailer for the Mog - SORTED
When it comes to change cars around I am seriously considering this Can drive to "wherever" - set up camp - tour the area in the Mog Its what we do. We have a VW California, its car, its a mobile office & its pretty good for camping. It justifies its place on the drive as my everyday car. Cost wise they have gone stupidly silly this year due to demand, but it did mean I could sell my 7 year old one for more than I paid for it new. We previously had a 8m long motorhome which was great until you needed to park it or drive it far, I was getting about 12-14mpg.It spent 49 weeks a year on the drive. The VW gets 35mpg, will cruise at 100mph if needed & is far more refined than the last Range rover I had. In a normal summer We drive down to spain in it & then rent a villa - gives the best of both worlds.

Six meters okay for two - you can get on smaller sites and CL’s. Having two nights in Chirk from tomorrow en route to Anglesey. Site opposite NT castle do can get some use from the unused NT cards too hopefully. Never been to Chirk - right on the border. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/28/3172ECB9-75E2-4C3D-AC33-F2C86B347121.jpg)

The Llangollen Canal is very picturesque. The Chirk and Pontcysyllte Aqueducts are worth a look.

Campervans and Motorhomes are very popular especially at the moment. You have to have somewhere to keep them though and would need to use them enough to justify having one.
We did consider hiring a VW T5 but those are fairly small and having to book and pay for campsites means its probably dearer than staying in a hotel with proper flushing WC, bed and facilities.
Her indoors wouldnt wildcamp as paying to sleep in cramped conditions at the side of the road and cr@p in a bucket inside a van isnt her idea of fun.

/drift mode on a bit. I had a technical director at one of our customers who worked from his (I thought it was a T6 not 5) T6. He worked for a hotel chain around Europe. HQ was London, He lived in north France, their computer facility was Belgium and they had hotels all over. He would just jump in the T6 and roll along to the next location. I did one trip with him so we could share ideas and discussion and door to door it was about as quick as a flight, more comfy and very productive. I had visions of a noisy van but they are really calm cruisers with quite a turn of speed. I even thought about doing the same myself in earlier years when I was high mileage. Not certain it carries as a holiday for me but perfectly good for 1 person on week trips. The table made a great desk and 4G does most things now for IT. /drift mode off.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
