All the Centa compensators, old and new, will consume the rollers at some point. 1000 miles is very little mileage and probably down to "a bad batch" but on average about 10,000 miles is considered reasonable. If you don't do many miles it will be a long time between Centa roller changes so the occasional engine out will not come around very often. On the other hand if you do big mileage......have a look at Phil Bleazeys mods. You may be lucky and they may last 20,000 miles or more, some have. I did set out on some long trips before doing Phil's Centa mods but I feel happier doing those sort of trips now.
