The exhaust wrap on my M3W has started to perish and come away. Does anyone have any recommendations for Exhaust wrap ?
Any advice would be welcome.

I had header wrap that quickly fell apart and made a mess of the pipes that was difficult to polish out when I removed it.
My advise is don't bother with it, its better to get rid of the heat from the pipes as soon as possible as they run very hot and you haven't got to worry about under bonnet temperature like on a normal car, doubt there would be any noticeable performance gain either.

Thanks - Seems to make sense. Was only thinking more that the wrapping protects the pipes from road debris.

Get some quality stuff, motorbike shops should have abundance of it. Alledgedly there are quality differences, but I have no personal experience between one brand and another,as I have only wrapped the exhaust manifolds once - a couple of months ago. i do have experience between ordinary fibreglass wraps and the "titanium" kind, though. Titanium is easier to apply, doesn't leave as much fibreglass strands all over (clothes, gloves, the engine itself - you name it...) and looks better. More expensive, though. As the exhaust on the M3W is fairly straight, you will most likely be ok with the two inch width instead of one. Quicker to apply. If you are not experienced, take your time and be accurate. Use ordinary cable ties as a temporary fixation utill you are happy, then SS ones. Tighten well using a plyer to pull while applying counterforce to the lock with the edge of a screwdriver, then fold the loose end over and cut. As for the effect on a M3W, I do not really know. The exhaust will not be as hot to touch of course, but still you will not want to touch it.... As for performance, I would be surprised if you get any noticeable effect. I wrapped the manifolds on my Roadster to reduce the under-bonnet-temperature. The engine became a little more quiet as the metallic resonance of the headers was dampened, but the exhaust note slightly deeper and more pronounced (I think..) As for performance, no effect that I know of. I am no expert on M3W, but I am not sure I would bother, unless you like the look.

I put the wrapping on those pipes to deflect heat from the indicator pods. The wrap has lasted two years, so you may want to use the same again

Exactly that. It's not cosmetic for me, rather than saving other components melting! like Indicators or the Ohlins coating.

Can you remember what size ties you ordered ?

I think they were 4.9mm x 150mm. As you can see, I struggled with a 25 ft roll to get the final turn over the top of the manifold, so overlap to the minimum or splash out on 35ft.

I did some wrap work on my Boardtrack racer bike build. I had them ceramic coated first, but had three spots that I wanted to add protection from the heat.

I used this: SunPlus Trade 2" wide exhaust wrap

I had never done this before, but was concerned when they said that it would not be covered if I did NOT use a black silicone spray on the exhaust wrap after it was dry. This was not an easy task for me as I had to take the exhaust pipes off to wrap and then reinstall to dry and shrink them out. Once dry I took them all back off and sprayed several coats of the black silicone spray on the wrap. Also not easy was I wanted the stainless steel wrap ties to show after the silicone spray was done. I masked off each SS tie and then sprayed the wrap sections. Once dry and back on, they look great and there's no fuzzy edges either as the black silicone spray coated and hardened them.

Can't tell you how much longer it will last than normal, but this wrap looks good and had many good reviews.

I also purchased a bag of: Stainless Steel wrap ties

These were only $13.99 for 100 ties. I used small needle nose pliers to twist up the ends and tighten them up. Worked okay, but a tensioner tool would have been better.

For whatever reason at the moment it won't let me upload a 375 b size picture, should work.
