I don't think the MMC 'stays' should be described a stays as they are just props that either fall off or useless if the bonnet gets caught in the wind.
I have Wolf stays which lock in place and are better than a damaged bonnet!

Yes, that's the system I use. Cheap, simple ... and if you are working on both sides, when you close one bonnet the opposite one opens.
