I may need a pair of headlight surrounds and wondered what the best source is for a set in stainless?

A wall unit detached itself from the garage wall falling perfectly onto the two headlight surrounds causing a dent to each. Fortunately, no other damage was sustained to paint, body, grill and so on, the two side panels of the unit spaced just right to clout the headlights. The unit was screwed to battens held onto the wall with grip - 'something' that was supposed to be the best in the universe. The glue failed, Why glue? It's a Marley concrete garage and I cannot for the life of me get a drill to cut into it. I might not put it back.

Have a look at Librands. There are two depths, which give a slight difference in look.

I had a shelf come off the wall last year. I overloaded it and it pulled the plugs out of the wall. Everything slid off the shelf, which was left hanging off the wall by the bottom screws on three brackets. The gap between the nearside of my Roadster and the wall was no more than eighteen inches, and everything fell into that narrow space. Nothing hit the Morgan.

You mean the rim surrounding the headlamp? Librands sells them in two versions/depths - one for early cars, another for more recent ones, so measure before you order. They are in chrome, though, I have not seen them in SS. Check out Librands website. If they really should exist in SS, Melvyn Rutter might have them. You can check that out too.

I think these in stainless could do the job, worth a call anyway.

Kevin, to drill dense precast concrete you need a rotary percussive drill with SDS bits, not a cr44py DIY hammer thing

OK, thanks Jon very useful to know this stuff, I'll ask my son, he is a plumber and likely to have kit like that, or access to it.

Update

I fitted the stainless steel versions from Minispares and have a couple of observations. They fit more snugly, have a more dull finish typical of unpolished stainless and when fitted seem to appear more integrated with the cowl. I prefer them to the originals.

with both sides fitted. The offending shelf unit can be seen in the background, it is a fairly heavy unit and I was fortunate not to have incurred more damage - just the headlamp rims.

Look a good fit, and the bonus of stainless is that with a bit of elbow grease you can polish up to mirror finish if desired
