That seems plausible. I made the mistake of thinking that the cog within the wheel was for operation but if you are correct it is for adjustment.

I think Paul F is on the right lines, machine 2 could be part of a saw mill, the mechanism that moves the big timbers towards the massive spinning saw disc.

The car, I agree, is (or was) a SAAB 900 4 door.

Yes agree, turn the small cog to adjust the height, but can't find a picture of anything similar on the web.

I thought it had to be a SAAB or possibly a Renault 16 or Simca 1100/1300

(edit) If it was a 16 or Simca then it would have rusted away so I assume it must be a SAAB!

I’m no expert on Saab vehicles but it looks to be an early 900 model. This the only picture I could find with the glazed C pillar and it’s listed as a 900
