Hi you guys, just about to buy a grease gun from amazon and noticed the psi varies from 4,500 to 10,000 plus, is their a optimum psi or do I just get the most powerful, not wanting to over compress the grease etc. Also do I need to jack up the car to apply it? Cheers Alan (front suspension, 4/4 sigma 1600, yr2015)

When greasing the UJs you need low pressure. GoMog has the best guide on greasing Gomog

Cheers John, that's a very useful guidance from Lorne, at go mog and I am extremely grateful to you for directing me there. I am surprised that the manual isn't more explicit about the suspension e.g. what type, when and how to etc even though it does indicate a max of 1000 mile I would have expected it in bold text and more prominent as this is an important, intermittent bit of service. Anyway I'm a lot better informed now. I have had it greased twice since I've had it (3 month 1500 ml covered) but the roads around saddleworth are in crap condition and my little mog will alway need regular greasing, so thanks again mate

Grease u/is on a 2015? Is that Gospel? Where? How often? Are you suggesting that they may now be sealed for life on newer models? It would certainly be a boon as most people cannot access the two front ones without cutting holes in the floor or gearbox tunnel.

I have only seen vague references to it on here, presumed it was for older models. One of the experts on here will hopefully advise.

As far as I know, trads have grease nipples on the propshaft up to the last ones. My 2016 does.
Don't overthink this though. They dont need much attention, and even when they do it's only a tiny squirt.
The rear nipple is easy to access, being visible underneath.
At the front there may be one or two, and access varies by model. As said above, sometimes a hole in the floor may be necessary for access.
If you over grease, it can push the seals out, and grease will be flung out inside the tunnel.

This. The propshaft on my 1986 car is one of the few original parts on the car, so it's done well over 100k miles. I've had the car 20 years and I can't have greased them more than 4 times. They are needle bearings and you don't want to put a high-pressure grease gun on them.

Hi guys, my enquiry was for front suspension, the manual "owners handbook" states grease every 1000 miles or more regular in poor road conditions (that must be Saddlworth they're referring to) cheers Alan

For me there is only one grease gun.....the Swiss made Wanner. Although no longer manufactured they're considered by many to be the finest grease gun ever made, I have 2 , one which i bought new 55 years ago the 2nd i bought off eBay for £25. One for grease, one for heavyweight oil used on suspension trunnion (Triumph spitfire, well Caterham 7 to be exact)
