Lando is quite brilliant I think. He has a nice manner and drives with great skill for his short time in F1. I hope he does really well, I do like to see the young guns out doing yesterdays men like Seb and Alonso. I must agree with Ray though, it's all about the atmos. at Monaco but not one for us race fans.

Not the most interesting track but I would miss it.

If they were to cull some of them I am afraid my choice would be the expensive modern tracks that seemed to promise much but delivered little. In many cases it does not seem to be just the anonymity of the track but also the surroundings and native F1 culture in the region. Tracks used rarely, country's with less motorsport heritage etc etc. They cannot talk up the excitement on those tracks.

Sad that Ferrari could not capitalise on the success in qualifying, lovely to see Sainz do well and it must have been a huge lift for him especially there. I did giggle at a red car parked on the track in the last moments of qualifying causing the remaining last laps to be red flagged. Never seen that before have we. I don't mean that to suggest he did it deliberately as I have never seen that sort of action by him in the past. But it was a giggle.

It would be nice to see some of the less successful long term drivers step aside Kimi seems to add little. I am not certain I even heard his name this weekend. It would allow a re-jig of drivers to cars and some new blood in. The interest generated by George Russells results in the AMG demonstrated what could happen with a little twist.

If they wanted to really switch things up they could make it a little like the business events at go karting. You each get to drive a different car at a randomly selected track until you have driven all cars so you have had a chance in each. Highest score for the car with all drivers having been in it wins the constructors, highest driver across all cars wins the drivers. That would make for an exciting season. Every track would have a different driver in the different car plus the setup and car-track optimisations.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the sprint races are introduced, instinctively I tend to think leave well alone however I also think that something different needs to be done to liven up what has become a boring shadow of what we used to get. For instance, I would really minimize the aero kit and do away with the silly tire changes, also stop the silly penalties for track limits. I am well aware that as an old git I'm bound to think that the racing was better back in the 60's and 70's but of course the safety aspect was really appalling however, with the exception of Ferrari, the grid generally used the same Cosworth Ford engine but the racing was much more varied. I still hope for better things to come-----Forza Ferrari!!!

I still think pop-up sprinklers controlled by a viewers vote would be fun

My parents were avid watchers back in the 80's. I found that turning the sound/commentary off, and then turning the TV off, made it a much more bearable experience.

Now that is just brilliant after all you get viewer votes for a power boost in the E series.

When Bernie took over he introduced a huge commercial bias in that tracks would bid/ pay for rights to stage a GP.
Money started to talk in a big way. As an ex driver and team owner he had in-depth experience to wheel and deal in both camps. Behind the scenes he was and still is a vert generous and caring man.
Monaco has stayed on the calendar as it is a glamour/spectacle event that keeps the big money and wannabees happy. The race itself is a non event after qualifying with team strategy errors or driver mistakes the big influences.
I have walked the course when on a visit there and it opens your eyes to what the drivers face. sospan jnr drove his pizza van round it when filming for his Pizza Boys tv series. Set a record for slowest lap ( traffic limited him too).
Hamilton had a poor quali and appeared to lose interest. He is making noises about changes there to improve racing.
I love the F1 from earlier years until the really big money took over. Unfortunately those days are gone.
The Silverstone Classic is a dream place as you can mingle with the teams, owners, mechanics in the garages. Then....the sound as the engines are started.

Today's race seemed very short. Probably because I kept falling asleep.

I watch the You Tube highlights which is under ten minutes, and with fast forward gives me all I need to know.
