Having decided that I cannot do without something to play with that the medics will not frown at I am in the process of buying a1952 Riley 2.5 litre. Who are the current best classic car insurers?

I use RH Classics for historic bike and LR. Reasonable premiums and they always seem to be willing to come up with lower premium on renewals if I feel it's risen too much.

I appreciate it’s in our interest to question insurance company renewal quotes, and the majority of times they will reduce the price. Why don’t they quote that lower amount in the first instance? I have used Hagerty for a few years now for my cars and motorbikes and found them very competitive and easy to deal with, but when I have asked them if that is their best price I have always had the reply that is the price which they assured is their best shot.

Footman James are very good to deal with , my Morris Minor with an agreed value is under £100 .

As usual - shop around - Headley (Morgan Insurance) gave me the best rates for the Morgan, but Classic Line were best for the XJS. Tried to get some sort of multi car discount from both if I covered both cars with the same insurer, but Headley quoted way more for the XJS and Classic Line quoted way more for the Morgan. Strange as I assume the driver risk is the same and the values were fairly similar, engine's are both 4 litre etc etc.
