Had a clutch problem on a friend's Brooklands. It started off like yours but got progressively worse 'till it didn't operate at all. We bled the system & then changed the master cylinder, neither of which cured it. In the end, we took it to Phil Bleazey where we fitted a replacement (Volvo) slave cylinder while having the Centa upgrade done.

Check out this THREAD for more detailed clutch information.

I have a spare master cylinder if you want to try it? Might just be your problem and it's certainly easier to replace than the slave cylinder. scared

Unfortunately my money would be on the slave cylinder too. However, I would still try the master first, just in case. It's a hell of a lot less work...

Also, have a word with Phil Bleazey - he has seen more M3W clutches than anyone else and has sourced some replacement components.

Similar symptoms to master cyl on its way out on the later classic 4W Mogs (same cyl)

If you start the engine, keep the clutch pedal depressed in gear, if eventually the car (trike) starts to creep then it's the master cyl fluid leaking past the internal piston seal under pressure, no external leak shows as it just bleeds back & fills the reservoir

We had master cylinder fail with symptom that with foot down the clutch would slowly engage. Slave failure is usually accompanied by fluid loss - we saw no fluid loss and replacing the master fixed it - the rubber washer/seal had started to split. Changing this is a bit of a struggle given access but less momentous than getting to the slave cylinder...Good Luck!

Normally this is the case, but often when the M3W (Volvo) slave fails there is no fluid loss.
