Do you charge at home Peter, or use Superchargers (or both)? If at home, might I ask what charger connection you have?

It'll be interesting to see if other EV makers are keen to share their customer data with Tesla - as superchargers have no payment methods.

I charge mostly at home, I have a SyncEV connection point, £490.00 fitted after the Government grant. It charges at 7kwh, so in bright sunlight it is 50% free, using power from the PV panels.
Away from home I used the free Pod Point chargers at Tesco, mostly because the parking bays are wider than the standard ones and they are near the front entrance.
I've used the Amesbury Supercharger once as I have 1000 free miles to use. It charges at 250 amps and it was quite amazing to see range being added at 300 miles in 1 hour.

As Neil has said, the superchargers are smart and payment is collected from the card registered to your Tesla account because the Supercharger knows who owns the car that has been connected. So for other EV owners to use the Superchargers they would have to set up a Tesla account. Simple and easy to do for Tesla, one price for Tesla owners, another for third party cars. But is that something that people like Mercedes, BMW, VAG etc would want?

Although I have a 100A supply to the garage, I don't have a spare MCB in the distribution unit so I think I'll just have to make do with a 3.6Kw feed if/when I go for an EV. The way all the wiring has been built in there's no easy way to put in a larger distribution board. The upside is that the solar & battery will be able to most of the work on a sunny day.

Tim, I used (with my sparky) some proper connector blocks to tap into the main 25mm2 cables and feed off into a separate little dist board with it's own MCB and RCD to feed the charger, my thought being if the external charger trips as it's outside in the rain at least the whole house won't do 'down'

Yep, anything is do-able. My thinking at the moment is that an EV could stay plugged in all the time I'm not using it, so at least 12 hours a day, and at 3.6Kw my panels/battery could keep up. If I went to a 7Kw supply it would mean using grid power to charge for no real benefit given that the car would be sat in the garage from 10PM to 8AM at a bare minimum, and often an awful lot longer before being needed.

Tesla - Prices increasing due to restrictions on supply and prices going up on raw materials. Despite this the Model 3 and Y growing rapidly.

Yep, I've always said that the change will happen much faster than people were predicting only a few years ago.
