the crankshaft position sensor only deteriorates if the cable is fixed on the chassis instead of being fixed on the engine, I have never had a problem with mine with more than 100,000 km.

It might be worth trying the S&S 106-0744 Crank Position Sensor, not a cheap part but has been known to degrade and cause this type of inconsistent error. It's definitely worth slipping it out and giving it a clean. It won't cost anything and just might make a difference?

Many Thanks everyone, I will try reset ting the Map first as the problem only started after installing the new Walbro Fuel Pump. If that doesn't work then yes, I will try all of the above

Did you check the fuel pressure after fitting the new pump?
Or did you assume - as we all would - that new pump = correct pressure?
I ask as we have had a customer who fitted a new Walbro pump and then started having running issues - new pump was showing 68 PSI at test point.....
