Hi all, seeking help from you experts out there. I have had a crack where the vertical tube joins the chassis rail just behind the lower suspension mounting point and it has been repaired under the global recall system F.O.C. The engine had to be removed to replace the rear crankshaft oil seal which I probably blew by trying to start a wet sumped engine during the Covid lay up. I was given to believe that the engine had to come out to repair the crack therefore the labour charge would simple be for replacing the seal. The Factory now tell me that the repair could have been expedited with the engine in situ and have charged me accordingly. So my question is simply, in your opinion did the engine have to be removed for the repair to be effected?

If it is this repair that was carried out then, as far as I know it is done with the engine in place normally, no need to remove it. It may have made the repair easier but it isn't essential. Although it was repaired FOC there was no "global recall" for this chassis crack, the only recall has been for the brake pedal failure inspection and Morgan said that this crack area would be inspected at the same time. If your earlier than 2014 spec car had a later pedal box fitted and you decided not to bother with the brake pedal inspection, as it obviously wasn't applicable, this crack inspection would be missed. In my opinion DVSA should have insisted on two recalls, not one with an agreement to do the extra inspection at the same time. It would be interesting to find out how many of the 1027 vehicles that should have been inspected for both issues were. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/07/25/Mod-bracket.-lower-wisbone-Front.jpg)

Mine was the first to have this crack repaired, allegedly, and was done at he factory without removing the engine. They had my car for 2 days, subsequent cars were repaired on a while you wait basis of about 4 to 5 hours.

With the welded reinforced chassis the first cracks appeared at the bottom of the vertical tube on the right side then on the left side then on the new upper reinforcement welded on the left side then on the right side that started again upper left already repaired, last week I put down the engine for replaced the rubber barrels of the Centa and redo the welds of the triangulated reinforcement behind the engine cylinders in four different places after inspection. When I had nothing to do I would repair my previous frame whose front tubes are slightly deformed to make the entire front part of my design as new. I even thought about whether it would be possible to make part of the removable front frame fixed by screws. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/yB094pm/20210725-103954.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/hBQf47R/20210725-104015.jpg)

My 2012 car had the A frame reinforcement welded in at the Morgan factory a few years ago now. So far it's holding up well, although admittedly I've only done a few thousand miles since then.

Has anyone noticed any issues with their post 2014 cars, or did the chasis redesign pretty much resolve the issue?

A reasonable question planenut

I think that the more sensitive shock absorber assembly unlike the original assembly improves the duration of the frame, my first chassis ended up broken while passing over a pothole at 30 km / h I repaired it myself and take the opportunity to correct it. 'Caster angle which was with a difference of 30' between right and left after which it was driving straight on the road when the Mogan factory changed the frame it started rolling again deviating to the right.

Suspect quite a number of the 1027 early cars potentially affected had their whole chassis changed because of cracking near the upper wishbone mount (even for some fitted with the bolt in brace) so the accounting is complex. Does not mean that MMC should not do a proper job as it seems a number of potentially unmodified/uninspected early cars continue to trickle onto the market.

My 2013 car was originally modified with a brace after the issue first came to light, the chassis then cracked post fitment of the brace and subsequently the entire chassis was replaced.
